expected:-) Please keep it coming!

Chapter 15

Brenda enters the bedroom and stops dead in her tracks. She sees Jax stretched
out on the bed. She takes a tentative step forward. “Jax?” Brenda closes her eyes to
make sure she’s not seeing things. She opens them again and Jax is still stretched out on
the bed. She starts to feel anger building. “What are you doing here, Jax?”

Jax gets up off of the bed and comes over and stands directly in front of her. “I
came back to apologize.”

Brenda backs up a step. “Apologize! What could you possibly have to apologize
about? You gave me an ultimatum to marry you and to be out front in an hour or we
were through. I wasn’t there, so you left. Its as simple as that. Although for the life of
me, I can’t figure out why you gave me the ultimatum in the first place.”

“Because I was afraid of losing you.”

“Losing me? You already had me. Jax, you promised you wouldn’t leave me
ever. A few hours later you do just that. Why did you leave?”

Jax takes a deep breath before answering. “My pride got in the way. I don’t
know why I let that happen. I am so sorry that it did though.”

Brenda turns so that her back is facing. “I am too.”

Jax comes up behind her and puts his hands on her shoulders. “Can we start over
at the beginning?”

Brenda puts her hands on top of his. “No, we can’t.” She lets go of his hands

Jax’s shoulders slump and he lets his hands drop to his side. “I see.” He turns
and starts to leave the bedroom.

Brenda turns back around and sees him leaving. “Jax wait...” She starts towards
him.

Jax turns back around and sees her coming towards him. He holds up a hand.
“No, Brenda, stay where you are. I don’t want your pity.” He walks out of the bedroom,
through the house, and out to the waiting limousine. Sergei is sitting on the hood reading
a newspaper. He looks up when he sees Jax. “Lets go.” Jax says and climbs into the
limousine.

“Where to sir?”

“The airport.” he says in a dejected voice.

“Certainly sir.” Sergei pulls out of the drive and heads for the airport.

Brenda stays where she is. She starts to think about her dream about Jax and her
on the beach. She remembers how perfect it was when he kissed her. She also
remembers her times with Sonny. Brenda shudders at those thoughts, then she realizes
she thrown away something wonderful. She grabs the clothes on the bed and just tosses
them in her suitcase. She picks up the suitcase and runs out the front door. The
driveway is empty.

“Da**!” Brenda sits her suitcase down. She pushes her hair out of her face and
sits down on top of her suitcase. “What am I going to do now?” Brenda sits in deep
thought for a couple of minutes. “How am I going to get to Jax before he leaves?” She
snaps her fingers. “The Rolls.”

Brenda jumps up off of her suitcase, picks up her suitcase and heads for the
garage. She checks the door and finds it unlocked. She enters garage, closes the other
door and locks it, then she heads directly for the Rolls. Brenda checks to see if the key is
in the ignition. It is. Brenda does a victory dance, throws her suitcase in the back seat,
climbs in and starts the engine. She opens the big garage door and pulls out in to the
driveway. Brenda pauses to close the big door. She puts the car in drive and heads for
the airport.

The big black limousine carrying Jax makes it way to the airport. The further Jax
gets away from the beach house the more his heart breaks. He doesn’t know if he will
ever recover from it. Tears start to form in his eyes. He tries to blink them away, but he
can’t. The tears run down his checks and he doesn’t stop them.

Brenda picks up the cell phone and dials the number for the J and J Jacks of
Alaska private jet. Wally answers on the second ring. “Good Afternoon, you’ve reached
the J and J Jacks of Alaska plane. This is Wally, how may I help you.”

“Hey Wally, This is Brenda Barrett. I need a HUGE favor from you.”

“Sure Ms. Barrett, anything for you?”

Brenda smiles. “Thanks Wally.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“Is Mr. Jacks there yet, Wally?” Brenda said a silent prayer that he hadn’t
reached the airport.

“No he isn’t.”

“YES! Okay, Wally, here’s what I want you to do. I want you to delay the plane
from taking off until I get there. Do you think you can do that Wally?”

“Sure can.”

“Thanks Wally, I appreciate this more than you can possibly imagine.” Brenda
hangs up the phone and lets out a sigh of relief. Now she has a better chance to get to Jax
before he left LA. She continues down the highway.

On the other side of the highway, the limousine carrying Sonny passes by the
Rolls. Sonny doesn’t see it, but Jason does. He taps Sonny on the shoulder to get his
attention. Sonny turns towards him. “What?”

“Your not going to believe this Sonny, but I swear I just saw Brenda heading the
other way in a Rolls-Royce.”

“Are you sure?”

“Not really.”

“What the hell. Igor, turn this car around and follow that Rolls-Royce we just
passed.”

“Okay, your the boss.” Igor slams on the brakes and brings the car to a stop.
Sonny goes flying off of the seat onto the floor. “You should of fastened you seat belt,
Mr. Corinthos.” Igor starts to laugh.

Sonny climbs back up into his seat and puts his seat belt on. He gives Igor a dirty
look. “Just shut up and drive.” Igor gives a mock salute and with a squeal to tires takes
off after the Rolls.

Jax climbs out of the limousine and makes his way to the plane. He climbs the
stairs into plane. Wally is waiting by the door. “Hello, Mr. Jacks, wonderful to see you.

Jax nods his head. “Wally.” He walks over to the liqueur cabinet and pours
himself a shot of tequila. He downs it in one gulp.

Wally watches Jax with a look of concern on his face. “Where’s Mrs. Barrett?
Surely she is going with you.”

Jax pours himself another shot of tequila. “No, she isn’t. Can we drop the
subject of Ms. Barrett?” Jax downs his drink and goes over and sits down on the leather
couch. “How soon can we take off?”

“Its going to be a while, we’re having some technical problems?”

“What kind of technical problems?”

“Nothing to concern yourself about, Mr. Jacks. The mechanic is working on it.”

“Very well. I may as well get some work done while I wait.” Jax picks up his
laptop and turns it on.

“I’ll let you know when we’re ready to go.”

Jax doesn’t look up as he answers. “Fine.”

Wally smiles. It went better then he thought it would. He leaves the body of the
plane and heads for the cockpit. He has some things to discuss with the pilot. Wally just
hoped that Brenda arrived soon.

Brenda finally arrives at the airport and is able to find her way to the Jacks
hanger. She parks the Rolls, grabs her suitcase and runs for the plane. Brenda makes her
way onto the plane. She runs into Wally just inside the door. She tells him to tell the
pilot that they are ready to take off. She makes her way back to where Jax is sitting.

Jax hears the jet engines start up. He relaxes a little bit. Soon he’ll be far away
from Brenda Barrett. Jax goes back to his work. He feels the couch move as someone
sits down besides him. Jax looks up and sees Brenda sitting next to him. Jax is unable to
speak at first, but finally finds his voice long enough to ask her. “Brenda, what are you
doing here?”

Sonny, Joseph, and Jason have arrived at LAX by this time and are looking for the
Rolls. Sonny spots it finally in front of the private hangers. Igor drives the limousine
over next to it. Sonny gets out and checks the car for any sign of Brenda. He doesn’t see
any. Sonny is about to give up, until he sees a jet moving away from the hangers and
taxing out to the runways. He has this gut feeling that Brenda is on that plane. He sees
the insignia of J and J Jacks of Alaska on the side of the plane. Sonny wonders what the
Jacks have to do with Brenda. He is going to find out though and he heads towards the
hanger. He meets a mechanic on the way. He stops him. “Could you tell me where the
Jacks’ jet was heading.”

“Certainly sir, its on its way to Port Charles, New York.”

Sonny mumbles a quick thank you and runs back to the limousine. He tells Jason
and Joseph about what he has learned. Sonny grabs the cell phone and calls his pilot to
tell him to have the plane ready. They were leaving for Port Charles as soon as possible.
