Chapter 10

The plane touches down on the runway and taxi's to the Jack's private hanger. Jax helps Brenda unfasten her seat belt, takes her hand and pulls her up out of her seat. Wally comes out of the cockpit and opens the door to the plane for them. "Have a good time in LA, Miss Barrett and Mr. Jacks."

"We will, Wally. I'll call you when we are ready to head back to Port Charles. Jax says as he leads Brenda down the steps of the plane. Jax takes her over to the car he keeps in the hanger. The car was a gray Rolls-Royce with Jax on the license plate.

"Wow, nice car."

"Thank you" Jax smiles and opens the car door for her. Brenda gets in and he closes it then he walks around the car and gets into the drivers seat. Jax hands her a pair of sunglasses. Brenda puts them on. "Are you ready, Miss Barrett?"

"I'm ready, Mr. Jacks."

Jax starts the car and they head towards Malibu. On the way to Malibu, Jax goes by Grumman's Chinese Theater, Capitol Records, The Beverly Hills Hotel, and several other spots that LA is famous for. Jax then takes Brenda on scenic road overlooking the beach.

"Wow, Jax this view is spectacular."

"Yes, it is. Wait until you see the view for my house it is even more incredible than this one."

"Are we about there?"

"Yes, just a couple more miles.

Jax and Brenda continue up the road a couple more miles. Jax turns in to a driveway and Brenda's jaw drops when she gets a look at the house. Jax's laughs and turns off of the motor.
"You like?"

"Very much, I can't believe you own this."

The this that Brenda was referring to was a big white house that was two times bigger than the Quartermaine's in Port Charles. It was made almost entirely of glass. The house had a three car garage, a couple of swimming pools, and a tennis court.

"Neither can I sometimes." Jax gets out of the car, walks around the car and opens the car door for Brenda. Jax takes her hand and helps her out of the car. He closes the door and they head towards the house.

Jax and Brenda reach the front door of the house. Jax unlocks the door and pulls Brenda inside. Brenda looks around. The interior of the house is even more impressive than the exterior. The room they had entered was a living room. The living room was mostly white. A couple of white sofas and chairs were scattered around the room. The tables tops were all made of glass. The rug was a lovely shade of ivory.

"Jax, I love this room. I love this house."

"I was hoping you would." Jax takes her hand and leads her over to one of the sofas. They sit down side by side. "So Miss Barrett, what would you like to do on your first night in California?
Go to the movies? A club?"

"How about we stay here and watch the sunset. Hey, we could have a picnic down on the beach and get to know each other while we watch the sunset. What do you think?"

"I think that is a wonderful idea. Let's go."

"Right now? Jax, the sun doesn't set for another four hours."

"I know, but we need to get some things for the picnic. We also need to go and buy some clothes and other things we might need."

"Okay, Let's go."

Jax and Brenda get up off of the sofa and head out of the house. They get into the Rolls and head for Beverly Hills. In Beverly Hills, they shop on Rodeo drive. Jax and Brenda buy clothes, personal items, and stuff for their picnic.

Back in Port Charles, Sonny has been looking everywhere for Brenda. He has been unable to find her so he has decided to pay a visit to Lois. If anyone knew where she was Lois would.

Sonny arrived at the gate house and knocked on the door. Lois answers the door. "Sonny, what are you doing here?"

"I'm trying to find Brenda. Have you seen her?"

"Not since last night."

"Have you heard from her?"

"Yes."

"Well, what did she uh have to say?"

"Not much just that she had to go away and think for a while. I don't know when she'll be back."

"Do you know where she went?"

"Yes, I do. I'm can't tell you though."

"Why not? Come on Lois tell me!

"No, I promised Brenda I wouldn't. You will just have to wait until she comes back." Lois tries to close the door, but Sonny sticks his foot in the doorway to prevent it. "Sonny, get out of here. I told you all I'm going to tell you."

Sonny tries again. This time he asks politely. "Please Lois, tell me where she is. I miss her so much. I made a mistake when I let her go."

Lois started to feel a little bit sorry for Sonny. "I can't tell you, Sonny. I made a promise to Brenda, but if she calls again I will tell her what you just told me. Can you live with that?"

Sonny shrugs his shoulders. "I guess I have to."

"Thank you, now could you please take your foot out of the door? Ned is going to be home in a few minutes and I don't want him to find you here."

"Okay, Lois, I'll go. Don't forget what about telling Brenda." Sonny removes his foot from the door.

"Thank you. I won't forget about telling her." Lois closes the door.

Sonny turns away from the door and walks back down the driveway to his car. He gets in and picks up his cell phone. He dials a number. Sonny waits for the other party to answer. The other party answers the call. "I have a job for you. Meet me at the penthouse in an hour." Sonny hangs up the phone. "Brenda, its just a matter of time and then we'll be together again." Sonny starts the car and drives it back to the penthouse.

Back in Malibu, Jax and Brenda have just arrived back from their shopping trip. Jax shows Brenda to a guest room where she can put her things and change her clothes. "I'll meet you down at the beach in an hour." Jax tells her and gives her a quick kiss on the lips. He leaves the room and Brenda sits down on the bed. She is a little disappointed that Jax hadn't taken her to his room. She knows he was only following her wishes though. Brenda thought to herself, "I can be so stupid sometimes." Brenda gets up off of the bed, she puts her stuff away and gets ready for the picnic.

Jax, meanwhile, was in his room taking a cold shower and thinking about Brenda. He was looking forward to getting to know her better. Jax steps out of the shower, dries himself off and finishes getting ready for the picnic. He grabs the picnic basket they picked up in Beverly Hills and heads for the beach.

Brenda arrives and sees that Jax has already laid everything out. There is even a small fire going. She starts to walk over to Jax, but stops suddenly. Jax, who had been watching her every move, gets up from where he was sitting and walks over to her. "Brenda, what's the matter? Is there something wrong?"

Brenda starts to cry.
