Here is the next installment:
Miranda was in Port Charles throwing things around her apartment. It wasn’t fair, she should have been the one off on a honeymoon with Jax. It was all Sonny’s fault, she let him talk her into coming without adequate planning. If she had known about Brenda beforehand, she would have played things differently. But she assumed that she had hooked Jax well enough the first time and with all the guilt it shouldn’t have been that difficult to land him again. The millions that Jax gave her for a settlement would make her comfortable, but didn’t give her the power that she craved. Well, she would just have to consider her options and plot her next course of action.
The sun was just coming up as Jax awoke. He looked down and smiled as he saw Brenda was still sleeping, her head on his shoulder and her arm across his chest. It had been a very energetic and enjoyable night. Their bed was in shambles with covers and clothing scattered around the room. He reached down and moved her hair away from her face wanting to watch her expressions. She stirred, stretched her arm across his chest and she muttered quietly as she turned her head to kiss his shoulder. He used his hand to stroke down her body until she woke with a smile.
“Don’t start something that you’re not willing to finish.” she warned.
“I never start something that I’m not committed to finishing.” he replied and then proceeded to prove his point with gusto.
“Now Mrs. Jacks, if you could just get yourself dressed we could go on to our next adventure.”
Brenda laughed “Well Mr. Jacks, if my husband would stop removing every article of clothing that I try to put on, maybe I could get dressed.”
“If you insist I will behave.”
“I insist that you don’t behave! Now tell me where are we going?”
“That is a surprise.”
“But how will I know what to pack?”
“Don’t worry. I promise to keep you warm.”
The next morning it was past noon when Jerry awoke. He felt better, he was starting to get back some of his strength and energy. Jerry was having difficulties in moving his left arm and he wasn’t a man that could handle limitations or restrictions well. It was frustrating for him not to be in complete control and this was a humbling experience. He showered and had just put on pants as the doctor arrived. The doctor removed the wet bandages and said he was healing just fine, but would need physical therapy for his left arm to strengthen it from the damage done by the bullet. The doctor helped him put on a shirt and he made his way down to lunch.
Jerry found himself trying to look discreetly for Alexis. Lady Jane noticed him looking around and smiled to herself. She told him that Jax and Brenda had left for Cap d’Antibes early that morning. Many of the other people had started to leave already. Lady Jane suggested that he go check out who was still out on the balcony. When he went out to the balcony he saw that Alexis was in the middle of a discussion with Roger about the stock implications of a leveraged buyout. She gave him a smile and asked how he was feeling? He smiled back and said “better.” Ari came out and said that she had a call and she could take it in the study. She excused herself and left.
Roger turned to Jerry and said “I remember you describing Alexis Davis as a brilliant shark, but you left out that she was also attractive and witty. It’s too bad you don’t go for women with brains she would be a great challenge for one of our wagers.”
Jerry shook his head “Rog, that is one wager I would never make. I’m afraid that is the first woman I’ve met where I would prefer her to winning the bet.”
“Look out Jerry, you have it bad.”
“No, I’m sure it’s just a passing attraction.”
“Well, you had better make up your mind because I’ve invited her to the next poker party which will be on my ranch within the next six months.”
Jerry left in search of Alexis. She was in the study staring out at the water. “Is everything okay?”
“Yes” she replied “It was just Stefan with some questions he needed me to answer.” “Good, I thought I might have scared you off already. I was hoping you might stay for a while and insult me into getting better.”
Alexis responded “It has been nice to get away from all of the family problems and responsibilities. I have a reprieve until tomorrow so my insults and prying questions are at your disposal.” Jerry smiled and offered her a boat tour of the island.
