*Letting Go* Chapter 31

by Shani

Felicia picked up the package left at her door and walked inside, Mac following. Ever since Miranda's death Mac hadn't left Felicia alone for a minute. "Want some tea or something?"
"No. What's that?"
"I dunno. You can open it." she said as she headed towards the cabinet for the tea bags. She put the hot water on and turned around and looked at Mac. "What is it?"
"Jerry was involved with Miranda?" Mac said, mainly to himself.
"Jerry..who's Jerry?"
"Jax's brother."
"Eeww. When was this?"
"Before Jax and her were married. I wonder when Jax found out."
"Why don't you ask him?"
"Cause I want the truth."
"Why is it important?"
"Look, Jax came here and told you that the Cassadines had Miranda *murdered* right? And then it comes out that was probably a lie. Then 3 days after being here Miranda is really dead and Sonny is arrested. But that turns out to be wrong too, right? And the police still don't know who did it."
"You think Jerry did it?"
"No. Jerry doesn't work that way...she called you to cancel lunch the day...the day she was killed right?"
"Yeah. She said that she had to.." Felicia blinked. "She had to see Jax. She said that he wanted to see her."
"So Jax was probably the last person to see her alive..."
"I know where you're going and stop. They were in love once, besides I don't see Jax as the type to kill someone."
Mac did. But not Miranda. Unless he found out about Jerry. But there was something missing from this. "Felicia, I need you. We've got to figure this out." he stood up and headed for the door. "Are you coming?"
Felicia turned off the stove and grabbed her keys off the table.

"Come in." Brenda said as she looked up from her desk.
"Good afternoon." Jax stated with a smile. "Would you like to accompany me for lunch out on the field?" he held up a picnic basket.
Brenda grinned. "Why yes. I would."
They walked outside and sat down under the shade of a tree. Jax started fixing Brenda's plate and she looked up at the sky. "Do you ever wonder if things are too perfect?"
"Sometimes." he answered honestly. "Why? Are you planning to have a crisis soon. Let me know now, I'm kind of swamped, but I'll pencil it in." he smiled and handed her the plate, kissing her on the cheek.
Brena laughed. "Nope. Not me."
"So." Jax sat down across from Brenda. "When are we getting married?" He asked this question every day
And Brenda always gave him the same reply. "When are you going to talk to me about Jerry?"
She waited for his usual *Jerry was born.....he lied... he's out of my life* speech but he didn't say anything.
"Jax?"
"Today is his birthday." he swirled his potato salad around with his fork and looked back up. "I rarely ever got him anything...because I never knew where he was. But he would usually call and tell me that I was living my life wrong. See, he figured once a year he ought to be able to tell me *truthfully* what he thought and I should just listen. So he would call and rant for a while, I'd say happy birthday and then....then he would remind me of something I used to do as a kid. Some stupid thing. He'd then say that I'd grown up just as insane as I was as a child, and hang up. Kind of predictable I guess." he finished quietly.
Brenda put down her plate and moved closer to Jax.
"Sometimes I think I should just drop it you know?. But then I think of *all* the things he's done to me and I get so mad at myself..."
"Why?"
"For trusting him."
"Jax he's your brother."
"So. It's not like I didn't *know* he was a liar. I've caught him lying to me so many times...I stopped counting. But I always just swept in under the rug and told myself that *next time* I wouldn't be so generous. But it always happened the same way..my parents are no better. It's best if I just wash my hands of all of them. All they do is cause me pain." Jax got up. "I've got to go. All this analyzation of my family has killed my appetite for food."
Brenda tried to think of something to say, but couldn't. Finally she just said "I love you."
"I love you too. Eat enough for the both of us okay?"
She managed a smile and watched him walk away.
Brenda finished her lunch and cleaned up. She walked back into her office and closed the door.
"Are you capable of killing anyone?"
She jumped at the sound of the voice and turned around. "Nikolas."
"Did I scare you?"
"I didn't expect you. What do you want." Brenda headed towards her desk.
"Are you capable of killing anyone?"
"What kind of question is that?"
"Just a question. Jax lied to us. Uncle doesn't take to well being lied to. The last person who lied to him was Mishka." Nikolas sat down.
"Is that a threat of some sort?"
"I'd hate to see Jax meet the same fate as Sonny." Nikolas said as he got up from the chair and headed for the door.
Brenda jumped out of her chair and slammed the door before Nikolas could get to it. "Listen to me. And listen really good. Leave us alone. If you do *anything* more to Jax....if you say his name......if you even *think* of him, I'll kill you. I swear to God I will."
Nikolas smirked. "You don't have the nerve."
"I spent 5 years around a man who killed for a living. Don't try me."

"Listen to me. And listen really good. Leave us alone. If you do *anything* more to Jax...if you say his name...if you even *think* of him, I'll kill you. I swear to God I will."
Jax pressed the stop button and looked at V.
"Where'd you get this?"
"It was in my walkman."
Jax took the tape out of the player. "Did you tell anyone?"
"No...Jax?"
"What?"
"Where...where was Brenda...Keesha, Brenda and I were supposed to have lunch with her the day...the day Ms. Jameson was killed."
"Brenda wouldn't kill anybody." Jax snapped and looked at her.
"She'd kill for you. And Miranda obviously wanted to hurt you."
"Aren't you on duty?" Jax ripped the tape out of the cassette.
"That's the only copy." she answered before he asked.
"Good."
V walked out and closed the door. She was going to work on the Jameson murder personally. Because if Brenda DID do it Brenda was dangerous. Even to Jax.

Jax knocked on the door and waited. "Come in Mr. Jacks." Reginald greeted him and took his coat.
He didn't say anything, he just walked in to the living room. "Ned. We've got to talk."
"I know I know." Emily stated and walked out of the room.
"What's on your mind?" Ned said after Emily closed the door.
"Alexis."
