~* Friday Morning aboard the Abentueur *~
Time seemed to pass faster than Jax and Blaine would like. Their days were full of adventure. Cap'n Gerry took them out on the boat each morning to experience the uniqueness the Sound had to offer. They had whale watched, ever amazed at the agility of the enormous creatures that seemed to jump so effortlessly in and out of the water. They had observed brown bears clawing the Sound for a fish dinner. Cap'n Gerry was a font of information concerning any and every animal and bird they observed. Their nights were full of passion and unadulterated joy.
Their last excursion was to be to Blackstone Bay, which Cap'n Gerry suggested be an evening trip. Long about 7:30pm that Friday, Clarice, Cap'n Gerry, Jax and Blaine boarded the whaler and headed towards the Bay. The sun was making it's descent, and cast a fairy-tale glow over the great glaciers. The Blackstone glacier appeared to be more blue than white, and with the diminishining sunset, took on a pinkish aura in places. Huge billowing clouds appeared behind the gigantic block of snow and ice, softening it's razorlike edges. The sun's rays illuminated the clouds -- giving them the appearance of giant puffs of cotton candy -- both pink and blue in color. The clouds, the glaciers and the setting sun all seemed to intermingle to present a pastel work of art that only nature could be responsible for creating. Breathtaking didn't describe what was before them.
Blaine snapped pictures endlessly, knowing she could never be able to describe what she was witnessing to anyone, and hoping the camera would do it justice. Clarice even took some snapshots of Jax and Blaine in front of this magnificent view as a keepsake of their trip. There was a certain sadness in the eyes of the two lovers that Clarice couldn't help but pick up on. She could tell they were in love, but there seemed to be something wrong that she couldn't quite pinpoint. As she handed the camera back to it's owner, Blaine said to her -- "I lived in Alaska most all my life, and I never fully appreciated it's beauty until this very moment."
As Jax held her from behind, his arms wrapped protectively around her waist, he added, "Sometimes we fail to notice the things that are right under our noses!" His observant words brought a comforting smile to Clarice, who thought, "These two will make it after all!"
Blaine closed her eyes and leaned back against Jax's chest. Her mind was busy recording every detail of this moment, Jax's scent, the feel of his strong arms encircling her, his words which she hoped were directed at her, and their beautiful surroundings. It was all so unbelievable to her . . . so much so, that she began to doubt it.
Cap'n Gerry interrupted her thought process as he encouraged them all to come to the helm of the boat. They were going to be fortunate enough to witness the most spectacular sight the Sound provided -- the calving of a glacier. A slight cracking sound could be heard reverberating throughout the Sound. Then suddenly, astonishingly, a 300 foot wall of ice began to drop into the glass-like water. A roar took the place of the cracking and a continuous roll of medium sized wakes moved their boat up and down and up and down as the former chunk of the glacier disappeared into the depths of the Sound. Each passenger aboard Cap'n Gerry's boat was silenced with the awe of what they'd just seen. Blaine was overtaken with a strange sense of foreboding, and broke free of Jax's embrace in order to dry her streaming tears without his seeing her.
Jax followed her to the stern of the ship, sensing something was wrong. "Blaine, you ok?" He asked with such tenderness and concern, that it caused her heart to break a little more. "You can tell me what it is -- you know that!"
She turned to face him, tears and all. "Jax, this week has been amazing! I guess I don't want to go home."
"This week ending has absolutely NOTHING to do with you and I -- we'll find
a way to spend time together, we'll find a way to make this work." He seemed
so sure. He seemed so confident. Why couldn't she feel that?

~* The Aft Stateroom - Friday Night *~
Jax and Blaine had dined, danced and thoroughly enjoyed their last scrupmtious meal of Clarice's handiwork. Their walk back to their stateroom was quiet -- pensive -- for each of them. Jax had a tight grip on Blaine's hand as he led her into the room. There were no words he could grasp to describe what he was feeling for her. There was only one way he knew how to communicate to her the depth and breadth of his emotions, and he began with a kiss -- one that started slowly and deepened with each passing moment, conveying his love, his desire, his intentions for the rest of their evening. He left her only to dim the lights and turn on the music . . . .
Are those your eyes, is that your smile
I've been lookin at you forever
But I never saw you before
Are these your hands holdin' mine
Now I wonder how I could of been so blind
He removed her evening gown and ravished her with caresses and kisses that
had her on the brink of ecstacy before their lovemaking ever began . . .
.
For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin back at me
Now I understand why love is.......
Love is.....for the first time.....
He was in no hurry, and neither was Blaine -- as much as she wanted him,
she didn't want this night to end . . . .
Can this be real, can this be true
Am I the person I was this morning
And are you the same you
It's all so strange how can it be
All along this love was right in front of me
Time seemed to stand still as Jax sensually, slowly, lovingly made love to
Blaine, who felt as if her world began and ended in this man's arms . . .
.
For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin back at me
Now I understand why love is.......
Love is.....for the first time.....
Jax let his hands roam Blaine's body, his eyes memorizing the details of
her curves, of the way her hair fell against the pillow as he gently rocked
her body with his passion . . . .
Such a long time ago
I had given up on findin' this emotion..ever again
But you live with me now
Yes I've found you some how
And I've never been so sure
As he reached the pinnacle of pleasure, he leaned down and whispered to her
. . . .
And for the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
Can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin back at me
Now I understand why love is.......
Love is.....for the first time..... 1
. . . . . "I let you get away from me once . . . . I won't make that mistake
again! I love you Blaine, I love you!"
As tears rolled back and dropped on her pillow, she proclaimed to Jax, "I
love you too, Jax -- never let me go!!!!"
