Staking the Country Back

Taking the country by storm

I used to be an anglophile. Really badly. I am not at that point any longer, but I would like to have a sense of pride for my fellow countrymen. However, I am completely unimpressed with most of their accomplishments. We live in a land where Stone Temple Pilots and the Verve Pipe reign o'er the radio waves. Where the hot topic is how "offensive" Marilyn Manson is (when in fact, all they are is KISS with an agenda). We're living in a post-grunge world, and I cannot identify with it. So that's why I started listening to English music. It started off on a Beatles level, then into classic rock, and then Britpop/Britrock/however you want to label it. But I'm not happy enough with that. I want at least something to be a bit more ... local. And less hyped by big magazines.

Enter Dandy Warhols. The most brilliant band I've seen in a very long time. Should I rave on about them, or just say that they were so fine they kicked their own arses. They are adorable. Zia is my new heroine, she just was so amazing to watch. They sound great. True American heroes. Sort of. So if you get a chance to see them, go. You'd be an idiot not to.

There. How's that for a plug? Now go buy an album of theirs, turn it on, and feel better.

Just who are these rock gods and goddesses?

DANDYS RULE UK!
