People, get ready for something a little different from someone you know well.; Bones Elias (Outcast/Stoned Heavy) has put together an Industrial (as in NIN, Filter) band called Psycho Plague with Lup Duque (Noisgate/Psyclone) on guitar and Ruben Montero (BrokenEnd) on bass.; Bones plays keyboards, drums, and sings. They've only been together a couple of months and they already have several songs. Bones is writing most of the music so far and the rest of the band members are adding their expertise. This type of original music will; be something new for the Valley.; I had the privilege of; listening to a little of it and I was very impressed.; I really admired these musicians. Bones is passionate about this music. It's truly original and it runs the gamut of emotions from passion to aggression. One song called "Sorry" is actually a poem written by a local writer and poet, Edward Valero.  Another thing I already love about this song is that Bones' wife, Melissa is taking an active role in the music.  She can be heard reciting a poem in this song. She'll be managing the band. [STEM Magazine Nov. 1997 Vol. 1 Issue 9]
While Psycho Plague is not performing regularly at any clubs or other venues around the Valley, there is a method to their madness. ; The band, consisting of  Bones Elias on keys and drums (as well as other sounds),;  Lup Duque on guitars and J.R. Montero on Bass, is doing things, as Bones puts it, backwards. They want to get the music into people's hands before they begin playing live.  Though the band has only been together since September, these guys are all well-known and have played with many Valley bands.   The self-titled demo consists of four tracks; R2,; Dead Rat, Sorry, and Me. If you like Industrial music with an edge to it, this is one piece of music worth adding to your collection. You can also look for more EP releases from Psycho Plague coming in the near future. The cassette is not available for purchase. You can however, get a free copy by calling the Psycho Plague hotline or get on the mailing list.   Like any other great offer, supplies are no infinite, so get on the phone today. This new industrial band has only been together for about five months and they have produced a four song eponymous EP self-release.   Young Valley rock veterans Bones Elias (Outcast/Stoned Heavy),  Ruben Montero (Broken End) and LupDuque(Noiszgate/Psyclone) have taken a completely new direction with Psycho Plague. The band has taken it's rock influences, chewed them up and spit them out as a mix of grunge guitar, razor-edged keyboards and house/techno bass and drum grooves. The result is somewhere between Nine Inch Nails and The Crystal Method, a San Francisco bay area band which is making big waves on the industrial/techno scene.   What is really unique about the band's release is that it was produced entirely in house-literally.   Bones recorded the group on his 4-track minidisc recorder. Graphic design and reproduction was provided by Melissa Andra Rodriguez, who doubles as the band's manager. The CDs appear to have been burned locally on a PC CD writer, and the labels were also prepared in house. The group also produced 150 cassettes, featuring the same songs as the CD, which they have given away as promotional tools. They are selling the CDs for $5 each.   CDs and other merchandise will be available for sale at Psycho Plague's live shows, or by contacting the band directly. Psycho Plague has already been featured on Q94's all-request show.  They are the sub-headliners at the first Showcase Gig in March. That same week, the group is scheduled to open for Ian Moore at the Villa Real for South Texas Magazine's anniversary party.   The group continues to write new music, and is hoping to release another EP, or even a full-length LP soon. ; [VMG Newsletter Jan.98 Vol. 1.3]
