Wesley's Rants and Raves
Welcome to my page of my personal rants and raves. This page serves no other real purpose than for me to complain about recent events and make sure that someone sometime has to read them.
Politics
3/20/01- So here we go- the economy's in a slow-down. The problem is that we need to increase the money supply. This can be achieved through two ways, The first is by lowering the interest rate. Well, Fed Chairman Greenspan lowered them by another half-point today, but I don't think it'll be enough. I think he'll have to lower them by at least another half-point before the Fed's meeting in May. HOWEVER, if he is correct about the inventory reductions which are taking place, the econmy should be back on track in a few months. The other way to solve this problem, is a tax cut. This would increase the money supply in the hands of consumers. In turn they'd spend more, thus increasing demand. With this, the inventories are selling, businesses are becoming more productive and must hire more help, and thus the economy is back on track! I just don't understand how Democrats can keep a straight face while protesting President Bush's tax cut- apparently, they'd rather see the government hold on to our money while the econmoy needs it. This startegy by them holds no water!
3/05/01- Why does this Clinton pardon scandal not surprise me? He was crooked the whole time he was in office- of course he's going to partake in illegal activities on his way out! Wake up, folks! The man has/had no regard for the prestige of his office, and abused his power at every opportunity.
12/12/00- I honestly still can't believe that Al Gore is still in this election. If the shoe was on the other foot, and it was the Republican whining about the process, then they'd be blasted in the media and laughed out of this country. It's ridiculous what the Democrats can get away with- JFK ripping off the election in the 60's, LBJ, Clinton (need I say more?), and now Ozone Man. Maybe with this, we can gain a good foothold in the Supreme Court with Bush's possible appointees.
Sports
3/20/01- Only a couple of more weeks until my Cincinnati Reds begin their Championship run of 2001!!
12/12/00Alex Rodriguez
Can anyone believe that this guy signed for $25 million a year?! Now, I love sports as much (if not more) than the average American male, but why would anyone pay that for a guy to hit a ball with a stick? I mean, it's not like he's the greatest player to ever take the field. Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Joe Dimaggio, Ted Williams, and Hank Aaron (among many others) are far better than this guy! Manny Ramirez signs for almost that much? It's ridiculous, folks. Show me one present-day human being worth that much money! That's right- it's impossible! It's sad when he gets paid that much to play a game he loves, and someone who does something worthwhile (like saving lives or making a difference) makes next-to-nothing for his or her efforts.
The Holidays
12/12/00- "It starts at Thanksgiving. Everyone starts getting their hopes up and making big plans for the holidays. By the time Christmas rolls around, those hopes are shot to h*ll, so everyone has to drink a lot on New Years Eve to try to forget about how bad the holidays really were. They then start off the new year with their head in a toilet somewhere-- it's kind of symbolic when you think about it."- Dr. John Becker, from the TV show Becker.
