Nine Times Blue

JC let go of Athena, and looked up at a very upset Joey. Athena quickly stood up from where she was sitting and faced Joey. “Joe, this is not what it looks like.” JC said, also standing up from his seat on the step. “It’s not what it looks like?! You were kissing the girl I love!” he screamed, trying not to kick JC’s ass. “You know what, Joey, don’t blame him. Blame me. It was all my fault, ok?” Athena said, leaving the scene quickly past Joey and JC. As she walked back into the club, Joey saw tears starting to form in her eyes, and all he wanted to do was follow her and comfort her. “Listen, Joey, I can explain.” JC said, interrupting his daydreaming. “Sure JC, all you wanted to do was help out. ‘Joey, give her time. Joey, invite her to the club. Joey, leave her with me, I’ll talk to her.’ All this time while I thought you were tryin’ to help, you were just tryin’ to get in Athena’s pants!!!” Joey screamed. “Listen Joey! From the time that I first laid my eyes on her, I’ve had feelings for her. But it just so happened that the first time I saw her, she was your girlfriend!” With those words, Joey looked away towards the lake. “I can’t fight over this. I’m so upset right now, that I don’t have enough energy to fight with you.” Joey said, fighting back tears. JC was quiet, and looked down at his feet. “Well, there’s no way that me and Athena can be anything more than friends, ‘cause she obviously is still in love with you.” JC watched as Joey’s face turned surprised. “Why do you say that?” “She told me that if she didn’t take you back, that it would be something she would regret for the rest of her life.” JC said, even though it hurt him. With that, Joey patted him on the back, and made his way into the club.
Athena dashed through the crowd of people, trying to find Amber to bring her home. Once she made her way to the table, and saw all the concerned faces, she started bawling. “What’s wrong?!” Lance asked, pulling her into a hug. “I need to get out of here. Justin, can you bring Amber home?” She asked. Amber was in the bathroom. “Yea, sure. Why?” Justin asked. “I’m gonna take my car and go home.” She said, wiping her tears. Just then, Athena could see Joey walking towards them from the corner of her eye. “I’ll take you home.” He said, with a stone cold look on his face that would scare people. “We need to talk.” He said, making his way toward the exit. The way he said it sounded so awful! It sounded like something a guy would say to his girlfriend when he just found out that she was cheating on him. Athena followed him, only because she didn’t want to make a scene in front of everyone. As they made their way to his car, they said nothing. Once they were alone in the car, and Joey had started to move, Athena closed her eyes and prayed that he wouldn’t blow up at her. She wouldn’t be able to stand sitting there crying as he yelled at her. She could feel him starring at her every once in a while. Surprisingly enough, they didn’t say a word the whole ride. As she unbuckled, she put her other hand on the door to open it. “Should we talk here, or do you want to go inside?” he asked. “Inside I guess.” As they both made their way to her door, Athena still worried that he would blow up on her. Once they were inside her apartment and the light was on, Joey could see that she had been crying. “ ‘thena, what’s going on between us?” he asked. “I honestly don’t know.” She tried not to look at him. He walked over to her, and lifted up her chin to face him. As they starred into each other’s eyes, Athena longed for him once more. “Why can’t you love me?” he asked her. She closed her eyes, and realized that she was about to give into him. Once she opened her eyes, they were filled with tears. “I do love you. I’ve always loved you.” She said, trying to fight back tears.
Joey wiped a tear off her face. “I need you. And there’s no way that I can live without you.” He said. Athena knew that she should make the first move this time. She leaned in closer, and sure enough, her lips found his. It was no surprise to her that he started to kiss her back almost immediately. “I guess this is your answer.” She said, breaking the kiss and walking away. “Oh, now come on! You can’t do this to me.” He said, smiling, and referring to the fact that she just left him hanging. She made her way to her bedroom, and Joey followed. Once he closed the door, he continued the kiss. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, so he knew she couldn’t leave him. They made their way to her bed, and he laid her down. As he laid on top of her, he looked into her eyes once more. “So, does this mean you’re mine again?” he asked. “Not until you make me yours.” She said, smiling at him. He knew exactly what she wanted, and wasn’t about to say no.
As they made love after what seemed to be years, Athena couldn’t help but begin to love him even more. They held each other close, for they both never wanted it to end. Just to be so close to his body, made her want to melt right into him. As she laid there next to him, she remembered some words of wisdom from one of her good friends named Heather; “To be in love is like being in a war; it’s easy to start, but hard to end.” She was about to drift to sleep, when she felt him kiss her on her forehead. “Now that we’re back together, can you tell me something?” he asked. “Sure, what.” She said with her eyes closed and a smile. “Do you have any feelings for JC?” once he said those words, Athena’s eyes quickly opened, and she quickly sat up and starred at him. “Joey, how can you ask me something like that?” she questioned. He too sat up. “You let him kiss you tonight. And I already know that he has feelings for you.” He said. She couldn’t believe he thought she had feelings for another man. Not just any man; JC! Joey’s friend. Just the thought of her and JC made her…..think. Was she doing the right thing? Were her and Joey meant to be? Or was she meant to be with JC? “ ‘THENA! Answer me. Do you have feelings for JC or not?!” Joey said, interrupting her train of thought. She quickly looked at him, and she could see fear in his eyes. Fear that she figured was being caused by her silence. “Joey, I was not expecting JC to kiss me tonight. I wasn’t expecting anything of the sort. Especially not from JC!” she said, moving closer to him. “You’re not answering my question!” he screamed. “I….I….” she was at a lose of words. “Athena, do you love me?” he asked. “Yes!” “Do you love him?” “I don’t think so.” There was silence for a quick second. “Which is it going to be? Him, or me?” he looked at her, as she looked down at their hands which were entangled together. She could feel tears begin to form inside her eyes lids. “I don’t know.”
