Rob in Modena, Italy, 22nd November 1997
It was the first time I was going to see Robbie and also the first time I was going to a concert, so I was really excited!! My day started when my stereo played " Lazy Days ", the first song in Rob’s cd. I was really happy, and I couldn’t wait for the concert!! Before going to school I looked into my bag to see if there was everything and I went to catch the bus. Fortunately, that morning I didn’t do anything at school, I know that I couldn’t do anything because in my mind there was only Robbie!! I left school at 12 o’clock with my friend Federica and then we went home to take our bags! We left Savona, my town, at about 2 p.m. with my sister and her husband, and we arrived at Nonantola, a little town near Modena, at about 5 o’clock. As we got off the car, we went to some girls who were waiting outside the secondary exit of the Vox Club, the disco where Rob’s concert will be taken, they told us that Robbie was going to arrive!! Suddenly all the girls ran towards the secondary door, in front of it there was Rob’s bus! We didn’t see Rob, because they tried to hide him, maybe! So, after that, we went to wait in queue. It was really cold and it was also raining, so waiting outside was very boring. Finally, at about 7.10 p.m. they opened the gates!! We went inside and waited fort the concert!
At about 8 p.m. the Supernaturals entered: we didn’t know who they were, but, after they went on stage, we realised that they are really good singers and good-looking boys! They sang about 6-7 songs and while they were singing the last one, Rob went on stage, sang a piece of Supernaturals’ song and went away running.
Rob went on stage for his concert at about 9.10 p.m., he was wearing beige trousers and a beige shirt, he was really handsome!! The thing I liked most of his look, was that he didn’t wear his glasses with yellow lenses, so we could see his wonderful eyes!
His first song was Let Me Entertain You, then Clean, and then he started speaking to us. After all his songs he said: " Grazie… 1000 ", which means Thank you very much in Italian, then he told us other Italian words, like " Bambina, bambino.. " ( child ) and then asked us some sentences like " How can I say : I love you and You are ok!?!". We told him that "I love you" in Italian is " Ti amo " and so he tols us " Ti amo ", you have to imagine our reaction!!
"A love song", Average b-side. Then he sang a song he had written for us, it’s called "Strong" and it’s really nice. Robbie was very happy because we sang all the time with him, he sometimes wanted us to sing, he clapped his hands, he was wonderful!!
Then another song for us: She Makes Me High, he asked us if there was anyone who wanted to dance with him… everyone lifted her hand!! He started dancing alone and the he sang!! He continued with another b-side, a song he had written with Guy Chambers and it’s about the times he was with Take That, Teenage Millionaire. Another song connected with Take That was Ego A Go Go dedicated to Gary Barlow. " Do you love your mama? ", " Yes!! " was our answer. " I love mine, too!" and then he started singing a song dedicated to his mother, One Of God’s Better People. He was so sweet!!
One of the best parts of the show was when he sang Angels, he was really lovely!! When he finished it he asked us: " Do you like Angels!?! ", " Yes!! ", we replied, then " Do you believe in Angels? ", " Yes! ", we answered, "Well, I believe in you!" Then he sang a sad song Killing Me, and one of his fave. Song of his album, Baby Girl Window; after that South Of The Border. He told us that he was going to sing a last song, but when he heard that we wanted him to sing some more songs and we didn’t want to go home, he said: "I’m gonna singing a last song, then I’ll go away. You’ll call me and I’ll come on stage again, but don’t tell anyone!", so he sang Lazy Days and then he went away. We called him and went on stage wearing the " So Sue Me " T-shirt! He sang Old Before I Die and, as last song, Back For Good, in his well known way!!
The show ended, with his band he thanked us and before going away he said: "Buona sera ", good evening in Italian. It was a great show, Rob was happy and showed us all his feelings… also making some sexy acts… It was one of the best days in my life, and I really have to thank Robbie, because he made me a wonderful gift!! A last message for Rob, " Robbie, I love you sooo--> o much!!! ". All my love, **** Sandy!! ****
