Interview 3

Brian, what is your first memorie of Kevin?
Brian: "I remember that we where standing in the mud in his backyard. I loved it! They had this place with sand where his brother Jerald trained the horses. It had been raining for days and the whole place was covered with mud. It's too bad that I'm too old now to play in the dirt."

Do you remeber that, Kevin?
Kevin: "Eh...not really. I do remember that Brian was in the hospital for his hart. Terrible! They didn't even allow me to visit him because they thought I was too young."

What was your favourite toy?
Brian: "I was totally crazy about my bike! I got it when I left the hospital. It was yellow and red and I loved it! I thought I could ride to the other site of America in that thing."
Kevin: "My favourite toy was a bike too! It was a new kind of bike and I was one of the first who got it. I was sure that everybody would be jealouse but a week later the whole neighbourhood was riding that bike."

Did you two fight a lot?
Brian: "Now you say so...I just remebered that Kevin used to take away my toys. Of course I would get very angry but I couldn't do anything. Kevin is 4,5 years older, it wasn't so easy to get them back from him."
Kevin: "Yeah, I could be very mean. When Brian was playing with something, I always took it away. Not because I wanted to play with it, just because I thought it was funny to make him mad. He would turn all red and pound with his feet."

So Kevin, you where a real bully.
Kevin: "Yeah, I was. When I was playng star wars with his brother Harold, Brian wasn't allowed to play with us. I was Darth Vader and Harold was Luke Skywalker, we couldn't use little boys like Brian."
Brian: "We did play together. I remember that Kevin once bought 100 litlle soldiers. We used to fight many battles with these things.
Kevin: "Yeah, and brian was always cheating! Just when I put all my soldiers in order, he threw then away!"
Brian: "Of course I did! That was a bomb!"

Did you sing together?
Kevin: "Of course, we sang a lot together and it sounded good too! We had this cassette recorder with a mike and we used to tape everything. Those tapes still excist, I hope nobody ever finds them. It would be terrible if you could here that on the radio."

Then you didn't see each other anymore....
Kevin: "That was totally my fault. When I moved to Florida, I didn't contact them as much anymore. Untill the famous call....."
Brian: "It seems centuries ago that Kevin got me with the Backstreet Boys. I'm still very gratefull that he did that."
Kevin: "It was real a struggle to get Brian with the Backstreet Boys. For months I've been asking our manager Lou Pearlman to listen to Brian. But he didn't want another schoolboy from Kentucky. He'd rather have somebody that lived in Florida. Finally, when he couldn't find anyone, he'd let me call Brian."

Has there changed a lot since you're with the Backstreet Boys?
Brian: " We got a lot closer since we're in the band. We're more brothers than cousins but we have the same feeling with A.J., Nick and Howie."
Kevin: "When I have a problem, I don't automaticly go to Brian just because he's my cousin. When I have trouble with women I go to A.J, when I'm stuck in some computergame I go to Nick but when I'm getting tired of being a Backstreet Boy I go to Brian."

Name some good things of each other.
Brian: "I love it when Kevin plays the piano. I wish I could do that like him... When I was about 8 years old I took some lessons but after a few month I was getting tired of it and I quit. Kevin isn't a quiter. That's something I really admire about him."
Kevin: "I wish I could always have a good mood like Brian. When I'm getting stressed, I'm getting a bad mood too. But then Brian makes a few jokes and I feel a lot better. And of course, Brian is very talented and he has a great voice."

Enough nice things, what about the bad things...?
Brian: "Sometimes Kevin is acting like my father. When I'm playing with Nick and having fun, Kevin starts to shout that we have to stop. I can't stand that, like we can't have fun anymore!"
Kevin: "You guys can be so childish sometimes! But I have to admit, I get very angy about that."
Brian: "I let him know when I don't agree with him."
Kevin: "Yes he does! He says very ironic 'gee, what does that sound grown up, you must have a lot of life experience'! AAAAAARGH! I can't stand that so I get real angry."
Brian: "We all have arguements but luckely we are both very good in making up!"
