Talking about this guest appearance in an interview published on the Italian magazine "L'Ultimo Buscadero", Bruce says: "It was quite a lot of time that I wanted to work with Margo. Since the time of Dart to the heart I thought that her voice would have been perfect for some of my songs, and I have therefore contacted her for that. But unfortunately at that time, I got replied that she had a sour throat and she could not participate. But when I met her for this record, she told me that her label forbade her to participate to my record; luckily today she changed her label, and she eventually can do what she wants. That is why in the album's credit notes she wanted that Margo Timmins appears courtesy of absolutely no-one. I didn't know her personally, but I have always appreciated very much the things she has done with Cowboy Junkies.")

Movie soundtrack: CADILLAC GIRLS (1993; Canada)
[Was this ever released as an album?*  Here's what I've got: Directed by Vancouverite Nick Kendall, the film is produced by Kendall's Orca Productions, and Imagex.   Music is by Simon Kendall and features the music of Cowboy Junkies; the movie is set in San Francisco and Nova Scotia and is centered around a Mom and her car-thief daughter]

Movie soundtrack: HOUSE (1998; Canada)
[Was this ever released as an album?*  This was Michael's first feature film score, Jeff Bird also worked on the soundtrack and Margo handles the vocals.  The song "House on the Horizon" earned Michael a nomination for Achievement in Music: Original Song at The 17th Annual Genie Awards.  Here is a plot synopsis from All Music Guide: This intellectually demanding drama is based on a theatrical monologue by actor/writer Daniel MacIvor.  Victor and 10 others sit in a church.  He, who has just come out of group therapy, is sharing his odd life experiences with the people and as he rambles on, little reenactments of the strange tales are depicted.  He tells one story of a boy friend who is driven insane by his girl friend's dog.  It seems the pooch can laugh like a person and the longer the man is around it, the more convinced he is that the dog's laughter is directed at him.  In another, even stranger, tale of a reporter and a librarian who spend their entire lives almost meeting.  When they finally do run into each other, each suddenly realizes that they are soulmates and are deeply in love.  So joyful are they that they physically explode]

Vinyl Picture-Disc interview (year?*, released in the U.K. on 10/13/96, Vinyl: ARAB 215)

Cowboy Junkies wrote/performed the theme music for the Canadian TV show "Liberty St." (1995-ish?*) entitled `Ritual'

"SOLO MISFITS":

David Houghton has played drums and percussion with Jane Siberry, Melanie Doane, Tamarack and Jim Witter as well as numerous television programs and commercials. He has created the covers for nine Cowboy Junkies CDs, tapping the talents of photographers, calligraphers and illustrators from Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Jeff Bird was a founding member of Tamarack and plays on several albums, most recently on "Leaving Inverarden" along with dobro/guitarist Tony Quarrington (who played on "Black Eyed Man"); he also appears on albums by Loreena McKennitt, Jane Siberry and many others

Jeff produced these albums: Tamarack ("Frobisher Bay", "Grand River"), The Bird Sisters ("Flo"), Dennis Gomo ("Hiding Out in Limbo") and recorded the Junkies' track `Tired Eyes' for the Neil Young tribute CD "Borrowed Tunes" in his studio Ty Tyrfu

Jeff released another solo album called "Everything is Coming Clear and Plain to My Understanding" on 6/22/97 on the DROG label (it's reported to be a jazz album).  Michael Timmins plays on the album as well as Tony Quarrington and others

Jeff's other credits include the score to the film "South of Wawa" as well as various television programs and commercials

Ken Myhr has played on several albums by Jane Siberry and worked on the soundtracks to the movies "The Top of His Head" (1989), "White Room" (1990),  "Until the End of the World" (1992), "Project Grizzly" (1996) and "Sous-Sol" (aka "Not Me!") (1996)

Kim Deschamps' final project for Cowboy Junkies was the song `To Lay Me Down' (from "Deadicated") and in 1992 he joined the successful Canadian band Blue Rodeo (if you get the chance to see them live you should, they rock!).  Prior to joining Blue Rodeo he also worked with Bruce Cockburn, Crash Vegas, The Waltons and Junkhouse.  His other work includes original music for the soundtrack to the film "Hurt Penguins" as well as appearances on albums by Stan Rogers and Mychael Danna.  He also plays on `Scarlet Wishes' from the 1995 Danielle French album "Me, Myself and I".  He collaborated with Tim Clement on the 1994 album "Wolfsong Night", which included Jaro Czerwinec on accordion (this album was released on the Chakra Alternative Music label and is reported to be 14 songs worth of "new age" type music).  He is planning to release a solo album of new material as well as songs from "Hurt Penguins".

...AND HERE'S A LITTLE "FYI":

Margo, Michael and Pete come from a family of 6 children; they have another brother (John, who appears on "Trinity") and two sisters (one of whom, Cali (Carolyn) Timmins, is a Canadian soap opera actress)

Alan and Michael have been friends since kindergarten and have been in at least two other bands together: The Hunger Project (formed in 1979) and Germinal (an experimental instrumental group).
