J: (To L+P) Now your new single, which you both wrote, Stay In The Sun, what's that about?
L: It's about a crazy Summer adventure
M: About being in the sun and having a lovely time, I think anyway. And then just thinking 'Why don't we just do this always?' and then the rain comes. But the rain doesn't come in the song.
J: Your name Kenickie comes from the character in Grease?
L: Yes
J: Why did you choose that particular character?
L: I think Kenickie's the best because..em..like Danny and Sandy are really, like, clean-cut and boring. But Kenickie and Rizzo are,like, really...er...ROCK
M: Him and Rizzo are definitely the best two out of Grease. Cos Sandy and Danny, I mean it's all well and good.
E: Danny's good, Danny's good. Sandy's the rubbish one!
M: No Danny's crap because he turned into a geek at the end to please a girl
E: ooooh, That's true
M: That's so rubbish
B: How do you guys feel about Grease coming back out?
M: It's fantastic. It makes us feel very smug as well. cos it's like, "We like this one, it's our best one. You can like it as well. You can like it as well if you want, but we were first.
E: (Meanwhile) It's like we knew it was great
B: Now you just formed Kenickie because you were bored, didn't you? (What?) You said, "Right, we're gonna be pop stars, we're gonna do it." Is being a pop star how you thought it would be, or is it a bit different?
E: Welllll, it is and it isn't. Cos we never thought, "Let's be pop stars." (you tell him!) We thought, "Let's have a band and it'll sort of keep us entertained for a while." Then it sort of spirelled out of control.
M: It did
E: Like a terrible beast
M: Like a whirling Dervish
P: All that selling records and having to be nice to people. It just, y'know, sometimes it's a grind
M; One of the best thing's about us is that we don't really fit in any where. We're like the Geeks at school.
E: We're like the Geeks at school, or like the drunken Auntie at a wedding
M: Yeah, like that
L: I think we're three girls who look like pigs. That's our image
P: You sicko. We look a bit better than pigs, but...
L: Pigs with stilts on, Pigs on stilts
B: How do you describe your music?
M: Our music. It's a lot of things. Because we don't really have one distinct style like loads of groups have. We just do what suits every different song.
J: So, what's next for Kenickie, then? Are you going to be Staying In The Sun this summer?
P: Yeah. We're gonna follow the summer around
L: Yeah
P: We're gonna follow the summer around the World, basically
M: We're doing a gig with Ash in Northern Ireland really soon. We're going on tour..erm.. in September
P: We're never gonna see Winter
L: Our ultimate plan is to just follow the summer all the way around the world.
P: Yeah
