KENIX FESTIVAL TIPS

can't remember where it came from

RECIPES

Lauren: "Voke. You get a big bottle of Coke, pour half away then pour a bottle of vodka in it." Emmy-Kate: "Double Deckers with hot custard. If I was going to a festival and I had to camp, I'd bring lots of pre-prepared Marks and Spencers salads in a cool box with ice in."

FOOD AND DRUGS

The matter of food, they say, is simple: Eat baked potatoes and steer clear of noodles (Marie: "they might be worms"). Booze is easy. Bring your own vodka, or gin - a refreshing summer drink that Ms Montrose particularly enjoys. Don't try to nick beer from any hotel bars if they're closed, as you will set the alarm off (Marie is testament to this). Remember to go with someone who knows you should bring Pringles and other fancy snacks. Don't, they say, buy drugs at the site if you feel you have to take them (they are illegal, but chips and doughnuts aren't). They will be made out of Ajax and athlete's foot powder. Bring your own, they advise, if at all.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY TOOTHPASTE OR A TOOTHBRUSH

Lauren: "Use your finger. And salt is good to clean your teeth. My grandad used soot from the back of the fire."

Marie: "My grandma used Ajax for years."

HOW TO PULL

Lauren: "It's easy. All you have to do is wink and smile, then get them to get you a drink..."
Marie: "Choose a target that isn't completely drunk, just tipsy..."
Emmy-Kate: "Theses are saying wink and smile, but no no no. This is the tactic. Subtlety is so overrated when snaring a man. What you want to do is throw yourself at whoever you want, and it works."
Marie: "The thing is, if nobody else sees you then you've got no shame, have you? We have no room for subtlety, we haven't got time. We're very busy you know...

ESSENTIALS

Marie: "Mascara, cash card, lipstick."

Lauren: "Clean knickers, possibly socks if it's wet, an umbrella and some sun protection. At Phoenix last year, I got spectacular sunburn. I had factor 25 on, but I got burnt in a triangle by my neck."

CLOTHES

Lauren: "I bought this brown dress, for the festivals. It's long, but with a split so it looks nice. It's also very practical because you have to sit on the ground a lot and if you wear anything too short, loads of people see your arse, which is lots of the time a good thing, but festivals - you'll be drunk all the time and pants monitoring may not go on."

Marie: "I discovered the long skirt fashion last week. I thought, being a mine person, that a long skirt would make me look like I had a really big head for me body or something, or that I had a little head. I'm going to wear them with tight tops and Wonderbras."

Lauren: "A long dress is the most practical thing for girls to wear at festivals." Marie: "I'm going to be wearing trousers too, I'm a very trousersy girl, really."

Emmy-Kate: "I'll wear what I get free the week before."
