OK, in this song the bass plays an important part. I'll transcribe the main bass line for guitar. It starts like this: BASS-INTRO-RIFF: E|------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------| A|------0-1-2----2-2-3-4-5---5-5------| E|--2----------------------------0-2--| That is just the first time. The bassline that goes through the verses is like this: BASS-RIFF1: G F#7 Bm D E|---------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------| A|----------------------0-1-2---2-2--3-4-5---5-5-----| E|--3---3-3-0-1-2---2-2--------------------------0-2-| This is repeated many times. While the bass plays that line, the guitar plays this: If you look at the chords above the bass and guitar tab you'll see how they fit together. GUITAR-RIFF1: G F#7 E|------2-----------2------------2-----------2------- B|-3------x---3-3-----3-3---2------x---2-2-----2-2--- G|-2h4----x---2-2h4---4-2---2h3----x---2-2h3---3-2--- D|--------------------------------------------------- A|--------------------------------------------------- E|--------------------------------------------------- Bm D E-------2-----------2------------2-----------2-------| B--3------x---3-3-----3-3---3------x---3-3-----3-3---| G--2h4----x---2-2h4---4-2---2h4----x---2-2h4---4-2---| D----------------------------------------------------| A----------------------------------------------------| E----------------------------------------------------| OK, I'll explain the first verse. First you play BASS-INTRO-RIFF. While you're playing that you sing the first two lines. Then you start playing BASS-RIFF1 and GUITAR-RIFF1 and continue to play that throughout the verse. VERSE 1: -------- Hey been trying to meet you hey must be a devil between us or whores in my head whores at my door whores in my bed but hey where have you been if you go I will surely die CHORUS: ------- G Em [strum chords very lightly, use mainly We're chai-ai-ai-ained G,D and B strings] Bm We're chai-ained G We're chai-ai-ai-ained Em We're chai-ai-ai-ained Bm [here start playing CHORUS-RIFF] We're chai-ained CHORUS-RIFF: ------------ b = bend E|-------------| B|--14b15------| play this three times slowly, then start playing G|-------------| it fast. The chorus keeps on going G Em Bm and D|-------------| the singer sings 'We're chained' over and over A|-------------| again. E|-------------| When you've played that a few times then you play this: r = release E|------------| B|-16r14------| 14b15 means you bend the note on the 14th fret G|------------| so it sounds like the 15th fret, but here you D|------------| have 16r14 which means you bend the note but A|------------| don't hit it. You bend it, then you hit the E|------------| string and release it down. Hard to explain but if you've used tablature before you'll know what I mean. When you've played that part 3 times, then comes the end like this: E|------------| B|--14b17-----| This is a very slow bend and this ends the chorus. G|------------| The chorus ends on Bm. While all those bends were D|------------| going on the chord progression was alway G Em Bm A|------------| and the singer was always singing 'We're chained' E|------------| OK, when the chorus is over you play BASS-RIFF1 once with no guitar and then comes a guitar solo: GUITAR SOLO: ------------ E|---------------------------------------------------------- B|---------------------------------------------------------- G|-7--------------------6----------------------------------- D|----9--7-----------------7-------------------------------- A|-----------9--7h8h9---------9--7-7h8h9---7--5------------- E|-----------------------------------------------7--5-5h6h7- | E---------------------| | B---------------------| | G---------------------| | D---------------------| | A--7--7-5-------------| | E---------7--5-5h6h7--| | | | |-------------- You play these twice with just the bass playing BASS-RIFF1 and then you play this with another guitar playing GUITAR-RIFF1. | E-------------------------10--10-7--------------10--10-7------------- B---------------------7------------10--7-5h6h7-----------10--7-5h6h7- G-7----7-9-9b10---7-9------------------------------------------------ D-------------------------------------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------------------------------------- E-------------------------------------------------------------------- E-------------------------------------------------------------------| B-7---------7---------7---------7----7----7----7----7----7----7-----| G-9b11------9b11------9b11------9b11-9b11-9b11-9b11-9b11-9b11-9b11--| D-------------------------------------------------------------------| A-------------------------------------------------------------------| E-------------------------------------------------------------------| VERSE 2: [play BASS-RIFF1 and GUITAR-RIFF1] -------- uh said the man to the lady uh said the lady to the man she adored and the whores like a choir go uh all night and mary ain't you tired of this uh is the sound that the mother makes when the baby breaks REPEAT CHORUS Damn, that was a hard song to transcribe. Well, this should give you all you need to play it decently. I got the lyrics from the CD liner notes. You can't hear very well what he's singing sometimes but this is how the lyrics were on the CD so don't blame me if they're wrong. ********************************************************************** Questions, comments, corrections, requests, send to: qualitytabs@qualitytabs.tk ********************************************************************** Visit the QUALITY TABS INC.
