All chord names and numbers are D (xx0232) relative to the capo. Like E is actually a G. C (x32010) Great song!! In my opinion this song is better than What It's Like. But I'm probably the only person on the planet who thinks that ;) I'm definitely gonna buy this CD as soon as I can. I like the way Everlast sings. It's kinda like a fusion of rap and folk music. He's telling stories. Reminds me of Bob Dylan. (and now all those psychotic Dylan fans will probably mail me and be shocked over this blasphemy and start telling me how no one can compare to Dylan. ;) Also, I love it when a song has just a few very basic chords, and sounds good on acoustic. I have an electric guitar, but I haven't played it much since my band broke up so now I like good acoustic songs. INTRO: ------ E Ends... D C E Some people would rob their mother for the ends D C E Rats snitch on one another for the ends D C E Sometimes kids get murdered for the ends D C E [stop] So before we go any further I'm on my ends [Here's that fill he plays before starting the verse:] FILL 1: E|------------| B|------------| G|-----0------| h = hammer-on D|------------| A|-0h2--------| E|------------| When he plays the A chord in the verses, he throws in a little Asus4 (x02230) before going back to E. So you just strum the A chord normally but right before going back to E, try playing something like this: A Asus4 E|--0-0--0-0---0--| B|--2-2--2-3p2-2--| p = pull-off G|--2-2--2-2---2--| D|--2-2--2-2---2--| A|--0-0--0-0---0--| E|----------------| Of course, it's not neccessary to play that. If you think it's hard you can just strum the A chord normally, it still sounds great. VERSE 1: -------- E I knew this cat named Dale who didn't have a dollar A He was Harvard material, Ivy League scholar E Had a PHD, got an MBA A But now he's waitin' tables 'cause there's rent to pay E Companies down sizin', inflation's risin' A Can't find a job, he's feelin' kind of stressed E Doesn't even feel the effects when he says A Forgot to count how many times he's been blessed E So he falls off track, starts smokin' the crack A And once it hits his brain it starts a chain react E Sells the shirt off his back, the shoes off his feet A He's losin' all his teeth, now he's out on the street E And all of the sudden he's like Jesse James A Tryin' to stick up kids for their watches and chains E But he's from business school, and he's nervous with the tool A So he ends up on his back in a bloody pool E For the ends CHORUS: ------- D C E Some people would rob their mother for the ends D C E Rats snitch on one another for the ends D C E Sometimes kids get murdered for the ends D C E [stop] So before we go any further I'm on my ends [play fill 1] VERSE 2: [play like verse 1] -------- I knew this chick named Sally, she had a nice strut And everywhere that I went she was up in the cut Swingin' that butt like "place your ad here" Only rapped the Benz and rocked the fly gear Brand name wearin', champagne wavin' Jewels around the neck, a lotta style she's cravin' Ain't no savin', she's doin' all the spendin' If you do the lendin', she'll do the bendin' Straight machine vendin', that's money for tail Shoppin' sprees get her on her knees And then you hit her with the keys of your krib you actin' funny Come home one day find her countin' out your money From the Wetlands all the way to the Apollo If you broke she's spittin', if you're rich she might swallow For the ends CHORUS: [play like first chorus] ------- Some people would rob their mother for the ends Rats snitch on one another for the ends Sometimes kids get murdered for the ends So before we go any further I'm on my ends GUITAR-SOLO: ------------ I don't transcribe solos usually. What he's doing basically is playing this: E E|-------------------------| B|-----2p0-----------0--0--| G|-----2p0-----------0--0--| h = hammer-on D|-0h2-----2p0h2-----------| p = pull-off A|-------------------------| E|-------------------------| and sometimes this: E E|-------------------------| B|-----2p0-----------2--2--| G|-----2p0-----------2--2--| D|-0h2-----2p0h2-----------| A|-------------------------| E|-------------------------| Just play those two a few times and add in some slight variations. You'll be fine.
