"On the last tour I used it live to mimic string parts, like on "The World I Know." By playing around with it from there, it grew into a style, and now I use it on several of the new songs.
"I don't know. (Says with a long pause and laugh) I hear the disco thing is coming back around. I don't really know what to think about that. I don't think we've got any disco stuff on this one. (He laughs again) I don't guess we're fittin' in there too much. I don't know. I'm confused at music right now." Commenting on the question on where the band fits in.
"As an opening band, most of these venues are very big and you seem so out of touch with the audience."
"That was just one eye-opening thing. It was really crazy. I think our record went either gold or platinum at the time - I forget. Then we played Woodstock '94 and we started opening for Aerosmith in the same week. It was a major week."
"I'm like the keyboard player-adding lines, textures, and colors on top. Ed and Dean play the majority of the rhythm, and I play the lead parts; but we also exploit three-guitar thing and split up a lot of things between us. If we create a three-guitar orchestration on record, we know we can pull it off live."
"That fools a lot of people. It's an old Ibanez Auto Filter from the early 80s or something. It's in this Frankenstein multi-effects floor unit that has an Auto Filter, Compressor, Limiter, and Chorus. I found it by accident one day. Just by looking at it, you know there are some crazy sounds inside there. Basically, you pick a frequency you want to whack out, and it does the rest. It also depends on how hard you hit the string-but that thing has a mind of its own." (Laughs)
