Personnel:
Current Job:
We're currently promoting our new single on Bearos Records. It's a
four track e.p. called "414.7 Revolutions". Peel has played tracks
from it and we're working on getting a session out of him. Other than
that, looking around for new labels for our next release. I'm also in
the middle of re-vamping our website.
Previous Employment:
Andy: none; Simon F: Wimpletodes, Sharon, Moneygods, Melt and a
glittering and varied solo career; Simon R: Wimpletodes, Moneygods,
Candyskin, Melt. (None of these bands were anything like what we do
now, by the way).
Achievements:
References:
"Birmingham's Post-rock pioneers" was how Bearos described us, which
was nice. "Subtle layered soundscapes seared with oxyacetalene
guitars" was another review. An early live reviewer stated that he had
never heard such an enormous sound from a three-piece before.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths: "Introspective post-rock coupled with powerful, emotive
songwriting". We come from a similar musical background to bands like
Mogwai, Billy Mahonie, etc. in that we draw influences from the same
sources, eg. Slint, Bitch Magnet, Codeine. Our more song-based stuff
draws more from bands such as Radiohead, Portishead, PJ Harvey, Red
House Painters, Galaxie 500, etc.
We feel an affinity with other contemporary British bands such as Los Planetos Del Agua, Calvados Beam Trio, San Lorenzo, Hirameka HiFi, etc.
Weaknesses: A recent review in "The Beat" said that the new single sounded like early Floyd, or Love, which says a lot more about the age of the reviewer than it does about our music!
