Still, the Radiohead performance at Werchter was again outstanding,
although
I got cut up in the mosh pit, fell and had a near-death experience
during
Paranoid Android when people kept flying through the air. I lost
my pen
with which I was noting down the setlist (but thx to Enela you already
have
that !, although she missed out MIL, which was the second song and
they did
NOT play let down nor airbag), my camera fell, but I managed to pick
it up
just in time before a bit boot crushed it, so hopefully a couple of
pics
will have turned out. If you thought that Germans were really
bad moshers,
you should have seen the crowd at Werchter. I had a feeling that
a lot of
them were just there at the front to mosh and not to enjoy the music.
I had
to get out of the pit halfway through Paranoid Android 'cos I just
couldn't
take it anymore. I watched Just and the encore Street Spirit
from a safe
distance and only then was able to enjoy the great musical performance.

Thom was in a great mood, made a mistake though at the start of Karma
Police
(or was it Exit Music ?), so they had to start it over again, he walked
off
stage towards the crowd during Talk Show Host, just like he did in
Cologne.
Creep was again referred to as the Karaoke song. I was hoping
they'd play
Climbing up the walls instead, 'cos that was the highlight of their
Cologne
gig, alas, instead they played only the well known songs. No No surprises
either :(, no airbag :(, no songs off PH except Creep :(...
I could spot a lot of celebs at the front stage area, the whole of dEUS
was
there to mention some.
Colin was bouncing up and down and generally had a good time, you could
tell
he was enjoying the gig. Jonny smiled a lot too and really stood
out in his
red t-shirt. Ed wore the same outfit as in Cologne, all black
and that
lovely shirt again, the one of which the buttons keep popping open
;), he
had lovely Belgian mineral water Spa to drink, couldn't see what the
others
were drinking though. Ed spit out his chewing gum on stage, perhaps
in an
attempt to glue Jamiroquai to the stage who was on after RH.
Ed was all
smiles again :). Thom looked very pleased and smiled a lot too.
After the gig I was shaking like a leaf from the near death experience
in
the mosh pit, so I went back to the press tent to get cleaned up, have
a
drink and a bite to eat. When I came back to check a bit of Jamiroquai
out,
I spotted Phil walking round with his wife at the festival ground.
I
grabbed my friend's pen and walked up to him. Nobody else seemed
to
recognize him until I called out Phil ! He said : "Well hello there"
I said
: "Thank you very much for a brilliant gig here tonight and for the
one a
couple of days back in Cologne" - He said : "Well, thank YOU very much
for
listening to our music" (my pleasure Phil ;) ) - I then asked him for
his
autograph and mentioned the EKS fanzine for Ed to him. I asked
him if he
could pass an issue onto Ed, 'cos I still did not manage to give it
to him
in person, although I was promised a meet in Cologne. Phil replied
he would
not see him for a week and a half as they were having a break before
heading
off to tour the states. Ed, Colin, Jonny and Tom had left the
festival
straight after their performance. I said not to worry, and asked
if it
would be possible to give it to him when next they met, I pulled a
copy out
of my bag and Phil looked VERY impressed. He said :"wow ! this
looks very
impressive". I said :"well, we have a fanclub for him, like you
have yours
and the vice president put this together on his computer (cheers again
Mark
!)". He said :"I will surely pass this onto him, thank you".=20
That was the end of the conversation as by that time other people realised
he must be someone famous and they started walking up to him to ask
for his
autograph. I found it wise to leave.
Phil is really nice and friendly and I want to be a member of his fanclub
now !!!
