Queensryche has officially begun their Journey to the Now Frontier tour. They kicked off their tour
with a live broadcast and then a private show for about 200 of us lucky contest winners.
We were driven to the VLA ( Very Large Array ) site just outside of Socorro,New Mexico.
It looked like a scene from a science-fiction movie. It was an isolated location in the middle of the desert
and we were surrounded by about thirty large radio dishes. The scenery would make an ideal
background for a new video. In fact, there were several movie cameras around the stage and
on the helicopter circling the area. I expect some of the footage will be used either for a new song
video or full-length video.
The band spent the first hour answering questions for the live broadcast and then started their show
with Miles Away and The Voice Inside. I was surprised to hear Queensrÿche
play some of their older material. After the broadcast we were treated to a private concert.
Here's a list of the songs that I remember from their set:
Hear in the Now Frontier
Miles Away, The Voice Inside, Sign of the Times,
Get a Life, Some People Fly
Promised Land
I am I,Damaged, Bridge
Empire
Jet City Woman, Another Rainy Night, Empire, Silent Lucidity
Operation: Mindcrime
Spreading the Disease, The Mission, I Don't Believe in Love
The last song of the night was The Lady Wore Black from their first EP.
It was an incredible performance from Queensrÿche in a very unique concert setting. Thanks to EMI
Records and KLAQ for taking us to see the ultimate Queensrÿche concert.
