I really wish people would pay attention to history - it's TWO LPs and ONE EP. Oh well, what do you expect from a label that would let this stuff go out of print...
During the three years and LP's San Francisco-based Possessed toured and recorded, the band was very much a part of the creation and subsequent expansion of the death metal scene. Although young in age, their first LP, SEVEN CHURCHES, conveyed the dark imagery of Venom, distorted and propelled faster than anything of its time. With consecutive LP's THE EYES OF HORROR and BEYOND THE GATES, Possessed worked with the guitarist Joe Satriani as a producer and instructor, increasing their dense sound with a guitar technicality seldom heard in underground metal. Light-years ahead of death and speed metal, Possessed broke up with members later turning up in Blind Illusion and Primus.
