A WALK WITH A FRIEND
Written by Mr. Bill Ack, former teacher of Lisa's at Bloomington School
It seems like yesterday you walked through our school
So willing and eager to learn the golden rule.
Your smile was lovely and it made our day
It brought sunshine in and drove gray clouds away.
You walked with a bounce and lived life to it's fullest
As a student and friend you were one of the coolest.
While you walk in the clouds with Eddie tonight
Our memories of you we will hold dear and tight.
We will see you again as our lives will end.
We look forward to that reunion and
A Walk With a Friend.
I'll miss you Dearly. Love, Mr. Ack
This is dedicated to the memory of Lisa Wade:
My friend, Jessica, pushes past a group of kids while I stop to watch their teary eyes. I didn't know her.
I follow Jessie into our homeroom and she asks, "Did you know her?"
"No," I whisper back.
I sit down in my desk behind Jessie's desk and my eyes wander around the room. A boy from Bloomington who I don't know very well has his head resting on his desk. Across the room, Andy is sobbing. I have never, seen him cry before. He stands up and leaves the room, tissue in hand.
I am a freshman at Westmar High. I feel like I am attending a funeral for someone I didn't know, uninvited.
Andy comes back through the door crouches beside the boy from Bloomington, and puts his arm around him. I wonder if she knew how many people loved her.
The bell rings, and I rush to my first class. The teacher, Mr. Avey, doesn't lecture us on meter or harmony. He simply writes a few notes on the board and retires to his office.
In the comer of the room a boy named Tyler is crying and covering his face, hoping no one will see his tears. I think of how wonderful she must have been for so many to miss her so much.
My mother comments on how young she was, "... a sophomore. Even if you didn't know her you would still feel sad because she is gone..."
I choose not to remember the rest of her words. I pray for the girl who was older than I. I know her body is dead, but she is not "gone." I have seen too many people today missing and feeling for her to be "gone." She has touched so many hearts and so many dreams she cannot and will not die.
I really wonder if she knew.
The sun is shining through the clouds, and the room is growing brighter. I did not know her and I never will. I cannot miss her, but I feel my classmates' pain so strongly that I feel I might cry.
But she is not gone.
As long as you know her and remember her she can't die. She is a part of you and always will be. I know this because I saw it in your eyes when you looked up to see if she was truly gone. And I saw you answer your own question, in your eyes, when you blinked back more tears.

An Angel From Above
Dearest Lisa
as we look back
we see your smiling face
and hear that cheerful laugh
We think of all the times
we were touched by your heart
of gold
but most of all we recall all
the special
memories which we shall
forever hold
You were such a great friend
and cherished by all
our time spent together
so short yet dear
Its hard to go on without you
but when times get real tough
your memories will be there
for us to hold near
You’ll brighten our day yet
once again for your presence
we shall feel
all the peace
and warmth
of your love
Which could only
be sent by you
our new angel
from up above

Time for Good-bye
Have you ever stopped to watch the sun as it sets beyond the sky?
Have you ever caught a tiny snow flake and watched it slowly dry?
Have you ever wondered just where it is your tears go when you cry?
Or how all of these pass on so quickly, that there’s seldom time for good-bye.
Have you ever tried to count the stars as they twinkle up above?
Have you ever wondered why fate only chooses to take the ones you love?
Have you ever sat with your eyes closed tight, expecting God to answer why?
Or how all of these pass on so quickly, that there’s seldom time for good-bye.
Have you ever thought to tell those you love just how much they mean to you?
Have you ever realized that tomorrow is a thing that is only guaranteed to few?
Have you ever thought to live your life by reaching for the sky?
Don’t let these things pass on so quickly, that there isn’t time for good-bye!
