The Catch-All Page
Without doubt, we enjoyed our day at Disney's Animal Kingdom, but you should also be forewarned: next year Disney will open a new section, called Asia, in the Animal Kingdom. Along with new animal exhibits, it will also feature a large raft ride: circular 8-10 person rafts float down the rapids, passing tiger enclosures, etc. The ride will mirror a similar raft ride in Disney's new west coast park, Disney's California Adventure, though the California version will feature the California wilderness and bears.
Although I have not featured them on this site, Animal Kingdom also has many attractions geared for younger children, including dinosaur-themed playgrounds and live-action stage plays, one of which is structured around The Jungle Book. Other attractions for younger guests can be found in the Camp Mickey area, located near the entrance.
Tip #12. If you're planning a multi-day visit to Disney World, go to Animal Kingdom on one of your middle days. Compared with the other three parks, there is relatively little walking. This park can be somewhat of a rest from the other high activity parks.
Tip #13. Although there are many animal enclosures throughout the park--including kangaroos, sloths, lemurs, etc.--some of the most interesting are located near the back of the park and may close hours before the park itself closes. See the gorillas, as well as the hippos early. The gorillas have a large, multi-segmented area, including a second gorilla enclosure for the bachelor troop (the younger males). The hippos have an above-below water viewing area. If you've never seen hippos below water, don't miss this. Like the animals on the safari ride, these animals are most active in the early morning as well. This is yet another reason to arrive early. To find park hours, look on my final page.
Note: Before you leave this site make sure to check out my final page, which lists links to other Animal Kingdom related sites, as well as other Disney World information. Check this link out to my favorite author, and my beau. He just got a book deal, but that's still hush-hush. Details later. The site was developed by WebDelSol and The Literary Review after he won a second national prize.
