the cardigans advernture.

i have homework so this will probably be breif. heh, maybe. it was...weird.

Nicky and Valerie and i had plans to see the cardigans on Monday Feb. 22nd at the palace, but a few weeks after we bought those tickets, a date at the glass house was announced on sunday feb. 21st. so nicky and i were like, ohhh. that place is so much smaller! so we bought those, but val couldn't come, so we were commited to both shows, and a little weary. i mean, i dont know anyone that has loved the cardigans live. as much as i love gran turismo, two shows? i was leery.

so Sunday Feb. 21st.

I got to nickys school about 2 o'clock. we had lunch and got to the glass house at 3:30 or so. and we were _completley_ alone. The bus was parked right on the curb, so the band walked from the bus, two feet into the door of the glass house. Right away we saw all the boys from the band walking around looking for places to eat and stuff. the streets were DESERTED. but, we didnt know what anyone looked like but nina, so we felt really stupid and it was a hellish and stressful day. haha. cos the roadies kept looking at us weird and it looked like we were waiting for stuff to be signed, yet we kept ignoring them. we're freaks. nina walked by a few times, but i just let her because she didnt even look up. it was making me want to die. i now know that shes just really shy, but i didnt that day. i felt like the entire band hated me because we just kept ignoring them. finally, nina and her man walked in for soundcheck, and nicky and i, still the only people there, watched through the window and got excited. when i saw her walking out i did it..i walked over and asked her to sign my cd...she did, looked up at me when i said thank you, and said youre welcome and walked on. didnt even smile. so. heh. yeah. it looked all bare and weird.

because of watching the soundcheck i KNEW we had ignored the rest of the band and felt stupid, heh. so we stand in line and freeze for the next couple hours and about 6 people started showing up. one was this 10 year old kid that knew more about them but me and made me feel stupid. heh. he had the drummer sign his cd. so we go in, take our perfect spot front and center and get kicked out cos the opening band, kent, isnt done soundchecking yet. so about 15 of us wait in the lobby planning ways to beat each other. lol. finally we go in and i manage front row right in front of the mic. i could touch the stage it was so close. i had the 10 year old next to me, and nick behind me. we had annoying bitches behind us i would love to go off on but im in a hurry. basically they kept trying to get in front of us, and i really dont know why because they threw things at nina, loudly insulted her, and tried to mosh cos they thought it ws funny. oh yeah, they talked during the ENTIRE thing. i was like, so why did you wnt up front again? jesus. but i just kept elbowing her back. im like, i may look like this is my frist show, but im a pro bitch.

heh. so kent comes on. WOO. i am in LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE with this band. i need to go buy isola. badly. they were frickin awesome, and really hot too :p Especially for an opening act they fucking kicked ass.

wait times were horrible. we got in at 7:30 kent played from 9-9:40 and cardigans went on at 10:15. it was bad. my feet were, and still are, killing me. heh.

so the cardigans came out. i recognized bumping into all of them repeatedly except for the guitar player that nicky kept saying he wanted to fuck :] hahahaha. he must of stayed in all day. anyhow. ninas stage outfit is a monstrosity. i thought she looked soooooooooooooo pretty all day..then she comes out with racoon eyes, nasty rubber/leather pants that make her hips huge, a feather dream catcher type thing around her neck, a weird cage on her wrist, and a cut nylon ala madonna across her right hand...but needless to say...they were really awesome.

this is one of the few shows where a lot of my focus was on the band, and not the singer, because they had such presence and energy. i was so friggin close to nina i could see up her nostrals. she talked inbetween every 2 songs..it was really neat. but not much eye contact, no smiles..it was a bad vibe. i didnt know a lot of the old stuff, but it all sounded strangely familiar and ir eally liked it. carnival was super good but the best was hanging around. the band totally rocked out at the end it was so perfect. the bass player, who is just touring while their regular band member is on..hiatus just kicks ass. hes so awesome. i loved the way they just jumped around and seemed so into it. it was really cool.

i felt like i had to make ammends with the band members for ignoring them, so i got cute smiles out of the..um...guitar/keyboardist..the blonde one ( i feel so wrong, but i cant keep their names straight) and the cute other guitar player. my favorite game was really good as well. the worst song of the night was actually lovefool, heh. they didnt do a second encore. btw.

afterwards we waited for it to clear out..and these big guys were beating me to get setlists, and i had just given up and this roadie i had seen all day had 3 setlists to give out and i was watching down the rail, and he handed one to one guy, another to one guy..and was just about to give one to this other guy and he looked up at me and mouthed "do you want this" and i smiled and nodded, and he came over and gave it to me instead of that guy. hahahaha i love that roadie :] and then we went home to sleep.

ok this isnt gonna do the day justice cos im tired.

val and i showed up at the palace, the next day about 4:30 or so. NO ONE was there. not even mr. autograph man. so we just sat around the side, and val painted her nails, and eventually mr. autograph man and his autograph collecting friend showed up. we talked a bit and he was actually..kinda nice. i dunno. he had this toy car he played with a bit, and it was almost sweet. then val got him bragging like normal and i wanted to kick some ass. hahaha

so the um..guitarist keyboarder was walking in a little bit later, and they stop him..so i waddle over and ask him to sign my cd and i say "last night was a really great show" and he looked at me and thought for a second, smiled and said "oh yeah! i remembe ryou. right up front. thank you"

so that was really nice :]

then i saw nina walking our way. the autograph mans get their stuff signed, and valerie. lol. she forgot her cd so i gav her my disc, and she picked it up with her wet nails, barely holding it and asked nina to sign it..and basically said "im sitting down, come here and sign it" hahaha so that was kinda funny. as she signed it i also complimented her on the show the night before, and she looked up..and, amazed me. she gave me a geniune smile and said "oh, well thank you." and it seemed really genuine. much better than the day before.

then we listened to soundcheck. then they all left to the bus, and the autograph men stopped the drummer who was munching on a subway sandwich. heh. once again, i asked him to sign my cd and complimented him on the show. he said "thank you. i .. i think tonight will be much better" and i didnt know what to say so i said.."oh, well i guess ill just have to see!" hahaha. and then they wlaked by us 900 more times, but we ignored em. haha

and i also complimented one of the kent guys, and he was reallly nice. i wish i woulda talked to more of them, cos i LIOVE THEM. but i didnt. hah

then we went and sat in our place in line, 10th or so.

i looked around the corner and saw the 3 memebers that i talked to, and ninas boyfriend coming our way. and i wanted to take a friggin pic, but they just arent the most outgoing band..so i took one as they walked past me. heh, it hink its really cool actually. i think they walked to dinner. they came back when the line was long, and nina like RAN in. they just arent the friendliest band. i assume cos theyre shy. yup

in line with us were the coooooooolest people ever. säm and, i believe lauren. they were soooooooo friggin nice. we got a long sooooooooooo well. for like 2 hours. after and hour, säm was like, dont you feel like we came with them? Hahha. i think val and i were both a little smitten. i could go on for hours, but they rocked...i hope i see them again. so they opened the doors and we went in and val lauren säm and i were on the rail! wheeeeeee.. just a little right. by the time of the show, we were center. heh.

perfect. i was *so* excited for kent. i had two kent fans next to me that screamed like BLOODY MURDER when they came on . it was like cool looking 20 something year olds too! it was so funny. like, she would put her hands up to her head and shake her head screaming, it reminded me of the beatles. they kicked ass SO HARDCORE. UH. i love them. their album is on the way from cdnow. yay

god i love them. but we had these obnixious sweedish drunk guys that i nicknamed BIFF (from back to the future?), like yelling at them to sing in sweedish, but it came off as really threatening. it sucked.

it got squishy for the cardigans, but ended up ok.

same set list but it was SO MUCH bettr. they had HELLA better lights, nina made eye contact and smiled A LOT. it was just really good.

i still think hangin around is the fucking best live song. hee so it was a really satisfying two days. great shows. you should see em next time they tour :}
