ok here comes my rushed cranberries review! Val and i had been planning to go to this show since we heard about it - tickets went on sale when i was in europe so we didnt have any until day of when val impuslivley bought us 4th row scalped tickets :p im glad she did tho. so we went and got those and showed up at the Wiltern about..oh 3:15 or so. The only person there was, ofcourse, Big Jim..over the course of the day we grew to be very fond of him. ive known him, and hated him, three years.. and today i decided he was really a sweet guy and we talked to him a lot..and..it was a nice day.
Closer to their arrival time 4 other guys..collectors showed up and were annoying as hell. Valerie smacked one of them. it was really cool. but there were 7 of us - Val and i being the only fans..and the only girls. hehe. So they set up baracades but valerie and i were just sitting on the ramp....kinda down towards the door..but they didnt care..i guess we seemed harmless...a blue van pulls in..and jim stays in the baracades (aw) and val and i stay sitting and the other guys flock over and ask them to sign...well...two of the guys like fly in without another look. bastards. But my favorite drummer, feargal stopped to sign. so val and i scamper over and since were short we were the last .... and he signed my no need to argue, and i hesitantly asked him to sign bury the hatchet (ive NEVER asked for two autographs before. i felt weird) and he smiled at us and signed vals everybody else is doing it...... and then smiled at val and i and told us..umm enjoy the show with a really nice smile. it was directed at val and i and it was really nice and heart warming.
And we were actually satisfied..and we sat down agains cos dolores wasnt in the van. about 5 minutes later a huge limo pulls in..and they once again run down to where it stops and ask her to sign when she gets out..and to our amazment she agreed.
so val and i scamper down..and i snap like..three photos..and im having a hard time getting around because the assholes are tall. and theyre all taking photos with her..and shes making a face in ALL their pictures...so i decided against asking for one..she was about to walk in when i got up on the step with her and asked her to sign for me too...
as she signed my no need to argue i ...fumbled out what i wanted to tell her..i just say something like 'this is one of the most important albums in my life..thank you' (because it really is) and i felt stupid saying it..but valerie said she smiled at me... i didnt want to ask her to sign the second...and she signed vals cd too. and walked in. it was nice. shes so shy its scary. and we saw them pulling her big skirts out of the trunk and carrying them in.
so a starving val and i plop our butts in the dennys attatched to the wiltern with the worst waitress ever. we were in there two hours! good thing we had the time. Valerie ordered a NASTY cherry coke, but it looks really pretty :p
So after two hours in there...we walk around the wiltern a bit..look for celebs and then decide to go in..kiss our seats because theyre so close...tami comes out to introduce jude. hes actually really good. but david was his guitar playier :p that was freaky. i didnt like any of the merchandise! and i really wanted a shirt. but they were super ugly. ill get one at the show in sept. the jude shirts were sooooooooooo cute tho! ugh
so i liked jude. yup. hes adorable. reminds me of someone tori would like..ok so then inbetween the two val and i head for the lobby because the wiltern seems to always be crawling with celebrities. we sat up on a staircase towards the back just watching the front area..and after about 10 min or so, we're both looking just right across from us to the right..next to the very uncrowded exit..and im just looking casually..and staring at this guy that just...SLOWLY becomes familiar looking...like..i recognized him from the side, but not the front. he was with an older woman and they were just talking and drinking
as im thinking 'hm..he looks familiar" val goes 'wow he looks like the guy from felicity' and i was like...'yeah youre right..it looks like ben..i cant tell tho' and we would be certain cos of his weird squiny cute eyes and canadian mouth...but then when he faced us we were like 'no it isnt' and after a few minutes val was like "NO IT IS" and i was like...'no, i just dont think so' even tho val is usually right..then three people walk up to him. the second they do val and i look at each other, pull the sharpie out of my bag and sprint forward. hahahaha. we were so ready when they did it..i waited, and val started talking to someone about van gogh and totally missed it. hahaha
he had turned to go in and i tapped his elbow and said hi. i apologized for buggin him yadda yadda and asked him to sign my ticket..i apologized (god i get stupid) for it being a aticket. i said it wasthe only thing i had and he was like 'oh its ok' and asked me my name and how to spell it. his mother seemed to like BEAM with pride everytime someone asked for his atuograph. it was cute. as he signed it on his knee (bent down) i tried to make small talk..i was like 'so are you a big cranberries fan?' and he said something like 'yeah i like them..i flew down from toronto to come to this with my mom' and i think i was like 'wow thats cool...' then he finished signing and i thanked him and told him to enjoy the show and he smiled and i left. haha. i remember saying 'i love the show' too.
i turned to val who instantly started laughing. i was trying to recap my sharpie but i was trembling so hard i couldnt..and my face was so red i thought id explode. hahahahaha. see, i dont get nervous when i expect it..like dolores etc..but random like that freaks my shit out. anyhow..val was just laughing at me and i was trying to stop shaking. and we went back on the stairs and watched where he sat cos i was like 'dude, this is why i have a disposable camera! for famous ppl!"
well. he sat down two rows EXACTLY behind me. we went back to our seats like 5 min later and i smiled at him and tried to act nonchalant. but it freaked my shit out. we were row D and he was row F and the seats behind me were empty the WHOLE SHOW so he was basically behind me watching my fat ass dance. hahaha. i was really self concious at first. he was like bam right there. val kept looking back and teasing me. haha it wsa trippy. anyhow..the show starts and proceed to kick major and serious booty. i took photos the whole show but didnt expect them to come out..and they didnt! i was sitting SO MUCH closer than this..but through a disposable they look farther. this gives you an idea of the neat stage set up too. this was with the 'horses lights' during the encores
i know they started with promises and...ended with dreams. the rest of the songs were like..hmmm animal instinc, loud and clear, desperate andy (KICKED ASS), shattered, saving grace, DELILAH (hateeen), pretty, ode to my family, ZOMBIE, Salvation, linger, i cant be with you, ridiculioius thoughts, daffidol lament (dies), and when youre gone.
i was so shocked that they did daffidol. val and i l ike...screamed incoherantly at each other. and i was sooooo hyped for ridiculious thoughts. its my favorite and i even did the dance from the video and the girl next to me did it at the same time and we started cracking up at each other. hee. ode to myf amily was the only song on the keyboard
so i have never understood why people like to sing along at shows. NEVER. until this one. dude i was singing so loud like the entire show. EVERYONE was. everyone was dancing and singing and it was such a happy hyper vibe, no one was annoying me...it was like a big group singalong. it was SO FUCKING FANTASTIC.
and she just smiled and danced around and skipped so cute and...ugh. so good. during salvation she leaned out over our side and put the mic out..you know to make us sing (she did it on all the singles) and she just kept pointing to sing and smiling and i swear to god she saw me and val :p im not kidding either she did. it was really cute.
ok woah. that ws just a fucking awesome show. the first song of the encore was pretty. it took them forEVER to come out. she had totally changed into those huge skirts from the limo and a shiny jacket. hee. she was being all cute. then she took it off and it was just a flouncy black dress.
good show. good good show. they seemed to be having a fucking blast. i cant wait for september! afterwardsi wanted to trek down scott speedman and ask for a photo cos i just..wanted to...
he got to walk one row up before shouts of "BEN" were being yelled across the theatre. 3 random girls grabbed him and took pictures and didnt say anything. i once again tapped his elbow, aplogized and asked to take a photo. my god he is so sweet! he said 'sure' and AS we posed i tried to chit chat again. haha. why as we posed? i was like 'what did you think of the show' he kinda raved about how good it was for a moment as i jus tnodded along in agreement. then i thanked him for being so sweet and bid farewell. he was walking out right behind us too. haha. he looked so confused because i could hear people calling him from everywhere. we walked out and stood on the stairs again for a moment, and i noticed him walking out with his army around his mom and his head down to hide his face :] poor guy. cant go anywhere!
so like. val the photographer! im kidding i like it. hee. hes making such a silly face. val said it looks like we're a couple :p der. :] hehehe. but its cute. it makes me happy. even tho my face is super round and fat. like my ben lee shirt?
so ive now seen 2 felicity cast memebers. hahah. the trippy thing about this is...ok...just the day before i WATCHED felicity and realized how much i liked him...and how much i wanted him and felicity together. i was very 'aw' towards them. hehe. AND that same day i got my 'autographed' felicity poster signed by the cast in the mail from when i ordered the soundtrack and i was admiring it. hahaha. ok. so it was a reallllllly great day. we got lotsa souvineers from the KROQ van on the way out too. ok if you read that im impressed.
