so this'll be quick cos im doing all these at once and getting tired. ben lee instore. traffic, we only got to Virgin sunset about a half hour before it started. walked into the store and bam, it was right there...i walked up, there was like 2 other people there and i took my place just to the left of the mic, so i could take pictures. Well, just in advance, i had another 'learning' experience with my camera and they didnt come out. the negatives are thin. i doubt i can get anything out of them..so theres nothing. im so upset, i wanted to capture the adorable twinkle in his eye :[ ah well. we were SO close. he walked down the stairs a few minutes before everyone else, in a wrinkly white dress shirt and blue dress pants, shoe and sockless. hee. some girls walked in the front door and he said hi and kissed their hands...and they were the only people dancing and i was a bit too, so i kept looking at them and we kept smiling at each other..and about 2 songs later i came to realize i had been grinning my head off at ANNA PAQUIN for the last ten minutes. hahaha. then i did the automatic i cant stop looking thing when i recognized her.
he played 13 or so songs, and it was really enjoyable. eye contact with him was scary. i only took about 9 pictures, but that was pointless. i enjoyed it so much. he did i am a sunflower , i think, acoustic, which i dont think i had seen before, and he did away with the pixies again and that was really neat as well. i really just love watching him play and listening to him talk. nick said he liked it too, which im glad. its just so good! i bought his new album after we bought manson tickets cos i figured i liked it more emotionally than away with the pixies and would rather have it signed, and i was right.
unfortunatley, it was a SIGNING after the show.ugh. i hate those. i wanted to just catch him on my own. they're usually nicer and i wanted a photo with him. blah. oh well. only about 30 people were there. kinda sad. they gave us free records. i was about 10th in line and he was going REALLY fast. just ::scribble:: bye. most people didnt speak a WORD to him. when i got to him he signed my cd and i told him that i was at the last two shows and that i really enjoyed them a lot and yadda yadda, and he actually looked really sincere and he smiled at me and said 'oh well thank you so much for coming, im glad you enjoyed them' in his cute little australian accent. and he smiled at me as i started to walk away, and that made me a little happy, cos while he signed he was just like..yeah..but he gave me a sincere grin so i was happy. his eyes twinkle so much. hes SO adorable. im sick of everyone calling him ugly. i mean, hes NOT gorgeous, but hes so adorable i love him. i just wanna hug him. anyhow, it wasnt quite what i wanted, but i was happy with it :]
so as i write this i've been listening to the new album on repeat for the last two days, and i really love it and i am every so grateful to nicky for indulging me, and i am glad he enjoyed it himself, and i will definitley see ben the next time he swings through, because he simply charmed and dazzled me. i really wish my photos would have come out, oh well. if you dont know what he looks like, heres a really great pic of him at a NY instore from ben-lee.com
but you can't see his twinkly eyes. ok. i love him. hahaha. and that, was my exciting weekend/week!
