    Extreme Description:

Extreme a Boston band created in 1986 was first named the "Dream" and the name eventually settled to just Extreme. The band released their self-titled debut record "Extreme" in 1989. The album showcases their savvy funk-metal style and their trademark musical diversity. "Rock a Bye,Bye" is a perfect example of Extreme's versatility. The song eventually progresses into "Gates of Heaven" a haunting guitar solo by Nuno Bettencourt. In 1990 Extreme followed up their debut with "Pornograffitti" an album that showcases their musical diversity once again but only with catchier songs. "Hole Hearted" has alot of soul and "Get the Funk Out" is metallicly vicious. They incorporated horns, acoustic guitars, mellow jazz and their funk-metal style has never been better. In 1992 came Extreme's masterpiece "III Sides to Every Story", never before has an album been filled with such vision and musical diversity. The highlight of this record is a 20 minute-plus three sided song titled "Everything Under the Sun". In my opinion this is what Extreme was all about. They brought in an orchestra and the songs feel very multi-dimensional. Nuno once said that it takes you to a diffrent place and I could not agree more. In 1995 came Extreme's "Waiting for the Punchline" that once again is an outstanding accomplishment from a very Extreme rock band, that ventured into the Extreme's of music or at least to where a rock band could take them musically. With great sadness,Extreme parted ways officially on Oct 3rd 1996.
