Tips From Paulie
If you like building scopes and really want to get into
them in a big way, here are a few tips to make life a
little easier.
(1) Learn to cut, copy and paste (ccp) It is one of the
best things you can do for yourself. If you have a large
scope and need to change a lot of colors, you will want to
know how to ccp. Instructions are on the main page.
(2) Number your scopes !! This will save you much time if
you need to go back and change something. use <<>line 1,
<<>Line2, etc. Then when you want to go to that scope,
hit your find button, type in <<>line2, and it will
take you straight there. Use CMD and your down arrow button
to get to the bottom of the page or your email sig box
fast.
(3) Always put your midi at the very bottom of your code.
One reason is that it can be loading while viewer is
looking at your scopes and images. Also, if you want to
make a music change, it will be easy to get to.
(4) Choose several midi (s) before you start building the
scope.
Check how each makes the scope react.
(5) Install a clear cache or change user button on your
site or email page. You will need to do it frequently as
you edit and recheck the scope.
Here's a simple one that
works well.
<<>form><<>input type=button value="Clear Cache"
text="gold" width="30%"
borderimage="file://rom/borders/ButtonBorder5.bif"
onClick="location='http://209.240.199.106:1608'"> <<>/form>
(6) ALWAYS keep a fresh set of batteries on hand. When
doing scopes, you will go through them pretty fast. Here
are some things to look for when batteries are getting low:
(a) the cursor will move slowly. (this also can mean you
need to clear cache, so try that first.)
(b) when typing, the wrong letters or numbers keep coming
up.
(c) when editing, numbers begin to appear that you know you
did not type. Time to change the batteries !!
