Packard Bell has provided a lot of information on CD for your benefit. I suggest you read this first. Many questions are answered in your guide. I actually printed my manual, only the most important pages, and I find that it was well worth it. They did a nice job on this manual.

What, you say that you don't know where the manual is. Look for the Electronic Library icon in Win 95 or the book shelf in navigator.

If you still can not find it, then you will need find the Docshelf.exe file in the Books directory. Double click on this file and there you go. Don't forget to create a short cut for yourself to make it easy to get to next time.

If you still can not find your manual they are located in the books sub directory of the Navigator and Electronic Library.  Click on  Mviewer2.exe and then file open, you now can open your manual.  To see the file names of the individual manuals look at the chart below.

Hidden System Manuals

My Electronic Library CD has a number of manuals which are not accessible through navigator or the Electronic Documents Library icon. In this section I will tell you where these file are located and how to modify the .ini file to turn on the manual you need. If you have older PB computers you may find a different file system from the one listed here.

Where are they?

To get to these files simply put the Navigator and Electronic library CD into the D drive. Then use My Computer, Windows Explorer or File Manager to see the file on the disk. Open up the Books sub directory and there you will see all of the manuals. (Manuals on CD will vary from system to system)

To view a manual simply double click on the icon, if there is a manual you need or really like and want it to be seen in you electronic library, then you will need to edit the ini file (SEE BELOW).

What manuals are there?
Again, you will have different manuals on your CD if you have a different hard drive format number. But I have listed below which files I have and what I think they contain.

How to Change the .ini file that Controls What Manuals Come Up-
On the C drive is directory called Books, in this directory is a file called Navbooks.ini. This file can be edited to change which books come up in your electronic library. I can not help you if you screw it up, so save a copy of this file that you can use if you mess it up.

DO NOT ATTEMPT, IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING

In this file you will find the following:

You will then see a line that says Books= and then the number of books you have, I have 29 in my ini file. You can then add books that are not in the .ini file. Each book will then have an entry like the following. The REM line I added to show what the file does and if it was a file that worked.

The first line appears to be the application that will let you view the book (this shold stay the same for all .mvb files). Simply add the path to any book you would like to add. You can also change active to 1 turn a book on and 0 to turn them off. The last line was not used in my .ini so I added my comments in a rem statement.
This is also useful if you would just like a full book case, instead of the half empty one that comes with the system. Just do not forget which book is which, because some of them have the same title but are for different system types.
I tried to get manuals on my hard dive to show up in the bookcase by editing the .ini file, but it did not work. If someone can get it to work please let me know.
