Shining Force is my favorite series of video games of all time. I have played almost every game in the series, and most of them I've played several times. This page is not going to offer walkthroughs or anything useful, just my own look into the Shining Force world. This is, after all, a personal web page, so if you've come expecting more, than too bad. But if you like Shining Force as much as me, or you're really bored, you may find this page enjoyable. And remember, this page is under HEAVY construction (which will probably last a damn long time since I'm having trouble finding time to play the games), but I wanted to at least put up an idea of what's to come.
I remember seeing articles about Shining Force in really old video game magazines, and thinking it looked really cool. Some time after that, I found out one of my good friends owned it, and I tricked him into selling it to me for $14. This is when I fell in love for the first time. SF was the first RPG I ever played. At the time, I thought RPGs were boring and too slow-paced, and I loved shooters, especially Thunder Force and MUSHA. After playing Shining Force, however, I completely fell in love with RPGs, and I didn't try another shooter until years later.
The main reason I made this page is because when I found Mieu Sedai's Shining Force page, I was shocked. I thought I was the only weirdo in the world who could fall in love with a game that much. Her page inspired me to make the Shining Force page I always wanted to make but was far too lazy to ever get around to. And I appologize to anyone who thinks my page is a rip-off of her page, but I was so excited by it that I had to share with the world my own Shining Force experience. Well, I guess it's more of an obsession.
When I started playing the first Shining Force, I was hooked. I have fond memories of falling asleep at 4 in the morning with the controller in my hand because I needed to sleep but also needed to save Guardiana from the Runefaust invasion. And I'm proud of the first time I played the game, when without any help, I found every character execpt for Gong, and even found the Sugoi Mizugi. I had one game where I played through the entire game, and searched every single tile on the maps. Literally. I was a little discouraged, though, because it seems that all but one of the secret items are found during battle. Even more obsessive, though, I have a list of the titles of every single book you can read on the bookshelves. Let me tell you, there's a lot of 'em (and I'll put them up here ^_^)! I even convinced my best friend, Zach, to by the game, and he became almost as obsessed as me.
After Shining Force, I began madly collecting Shining Force games, and when I got my Saturn, RPGs in general, and played almost all of them just as obsessivly, but not quite as much, as the first Shining Force. After my Saturn, I started neglecting my Genesis and Sega CD. I rarely played Shining Force anymore, but I made up for it by playing endless hours of RPGs on my Saturn. When I heard that Shining Force III was coming out, however, I started squeeling like little girls (probably). When I finally got the game, I played it non-stop. It became a weekly ritual for Zach and I to sleep over in my basement, and play Shining Force III all night, on two side-by-side TVs.
Just a little while ago, I became re-obsessed with Shining Force, and now it seems to be my favorite hobby/religeon. I made sure to order Shining Force III: Scenarios 2 and 3 while they were still easily orderable, and I payed alot of good money for the Premium Disc. My favorite addition to my collection is by far my Shining Force III art book, which has information and pictures on just about anything Shining Force-related you could think of. Nice! My collection will never be complete, because I'm always find cool new items on eBay (that I can't seem to afford/win ;_;) that I need for my collection. I can only hope that someday a Dreamcast sequel or compilation is released, so I can start collecting stuff for that when it's still easy to get!
Currently none of these links work, because I don't want to put anything up until I get some time to actually play through the games again, but I should have some stuff for Shining Force III up soon/eventually.
