Both give italics you just take the same file and make the fixes in it There is some small different then hit reload in your browser difference between and and you will see your changes tag ALWAYS produces italicized text the tag is designed to show emphasis (hence ) And SOME browsers have a different way of expressing that could be bold then signifies text to be emphasized. Also, different browsers treat each slightly differently I think almost ALL NEW browsers show it the same way --- as italics IE4 does But it in theory COULD be bold, or some other emphasized way. ok thanx that's all I have Q: what tags should we be aware of that differ from Netscape to IE4? the /nick is the command and the z-EmptySpace is the name you want. You may or may not be ready at this point and it is no prolbem if you wait it will be easier if you wait til week 3 and get directions but you can do it now and yell for help if you need it too Yes, sure you can make up the first week. You have to do several things correct the web page You first make the changes...and save. Then you will need to move that corrected page to Geocities and check to make sure it uploaded. Can I do that by view/source and then saving? If so, you should be able to refresh and see the updates It' didn't upload because the one that is there is dated 2/5 How do I move the corrected page to Geocities? at the bottom of the filemanger there is a utility to upload your pages okay Okay...try uploading again, use the filemanager to do it. you can use that to browse for the directory on your hard drive where you have you file If you ahve problems you can email us after class and we can try to help more make sure the box is checked to upload as .html too be sure to upload the .html file and not the .txt file!!! How can I get sources on AOL e-mail? many a times some uploads a www reference address onto it and I would like to see the source codes. look in your browser menu choices see if any look like they are view source then you can either save the web page as an html file and pull it into a text editor and look at it that way file, save as will give you the code How does one view or print a logged chat? use notepad to open it or any text editor I am getting nowhere fast! When you got the page to Geocities the first time, how did you do it? Through the EZupload ok in the File manager in geocities neat trick I learned for Win95....put "notepad" on your "sendto" menu, then you can clik on a . htm file or anything and send to notepad! It says at the top "internet Explorer script error" and then some ID numberrs and then it says "no such interface supported". okay I won't worry about it for the moment. geez this stuff can make an otherwise secure person pretty insecure! sometimes geocities has messed up and done things with their code that cause errors for some too i wrote geocities earlier and asked what's up. cuz this happened all day yesterday and today to me. Today I couldn't even access my file manager there. people in older aol browsers cannot even get to geocities pages cause they cannot interpret the javascript from what geo adds flamingo, did you clear your cache in your browser too and then close down and reconnect sometimes an error just keeps repeating itself nope. I'll go try that and see if it helps. close down what....the browser or my whole 'puter? the browser should be enuf reboot your computer tee hee better yet differing advices you know, sometimes filemanager is not working just cause geo is doing something with it too just closing the browser never works for me!!! you go back later and it works bbs, gonna try clearing cache and restarting browser scandisk and defrag too, lol reformat and reinstall LOL and run antivirus!!! often : ) never caught one yet, knock on my head : yup I have virus check scheduled, and check each download file before opening it. change hard drives too...:) I got Norton and it takes care of all that for me : ) remind me where to clear my IE4 cache.....I have too many files called cache on my puter Tools/Internet options/Delete Files button NS 4.5 = Veiw/Edit/Preferences/Navagator/Advanced/Cache/ ok, well that wasn't the cure. dumped the cache, restarted IE4, still get that message when I go to geocities pages. Ť Flamingo ť: you probably need to restart purter or script is corrupt but, doesn't happen when i go to my geocities page.....does when I go to glady's well i just learned something else.....i have to have my wave files in the same place as my mirc startup I guess, or mirc can't find them.
