What people said about the Serie 5 :

"The Series 5, although not the end goal of Psion's new developments, is a superb addition to the family. It has ensured that Psion will maintain its domination of the market over the next few years through a design which is innovative and addresses a broad range of problems affecting hand held computers. It is considerably more advanced than any other device available at the moment and EPOC 32 is a stunningly impressive platform upon which to base future machines. In the words of Dr David Potter, Chairman of Psion Plc, Psion are once again light years ahead of the competition."
... ``I am Psion. I am better by far as a personal digital assistant than those boxes called Windows CE.'' ...
In Psion, you do your work in applications designed by Psion rather than by Microsoft. You have a tool that does just about everything that Word and Excel do. Afterward, those Microsoft programs and just about any other Windows software can read the Psion's output.
But Psion does its stuff in markedly different ways from the ho-hum Microsoft mold we are coming to know all too well. This box from Britain thus arrives as a bit of fresh air from abroad, good enough to challenge mighty Microsoft in its own back yard.
...In many ways, the Psion Series 5, at $599 for a four-megabyte version and $699 for the eight-megabyte model, is what the handhelds using Microsoft's Windows CE software should have been. Unlike CE, its main screen doesn't look anything like Windows, but it's easy to read even in fairly dim light...
...At the heart of the Series 5 is a fast RISC processor from ARM, running Psion s own 32-bit Windows-like operating system that supports Java and C++. A Web browser, e-mail client and fax software will be available later this year at no cost...
The UK company could have another world-beater on its hands.
Appearance can be deceiving. Psion's next-generation personal digital assistant, the 32-bit Series 5, is a light and debonair Fred Astaire on the outside, a muscular and multifaceted Arnold Schwarzenegger inside.
