International Standard Book Number: (ISBN) 0380623641
Library of Congress Card Number:

Here is a review on a book that I would like the reader to consider on a rather broad basis. I say this because I would hope the most folks who read, and certainly any who read our web page, tend to look at the world as a multi-faceted place. This book most rightly belongs I think under the heading of Technocracy, and I don't mean this to denigrate the book or its authors in any regard! The book should well be listed also under the categories of Technology and History.

For those who have either read the book, or think they have a valid pre-conceived notion about it, let me say this. I think nuclear power is just fine! Before I get bombarded though by folks who will write to tell me I'm all wet, I will concede that the study and practical use of nuclear power needs to be done carefully and intelligently. For those who are also aware that I am an admirer of Ayn Rand, you will then appreciate why I too have my doubts if there is sufficient intelligence and resolve to do this in our present day society! In any case this book, "The Nuclear Barons" tells a story about the very beginning development of nuclear energy as a weapon of war, and goes on to tell the somewhat positive and sometimes negative attributes of its development for electrical power production. It is a compelling book and story in every regard! I credit its authors highly, and I hope all who read it will appreciate its story as befits the best of mans endeavors! It I think proves a point that as we learn how to do things, and we must proceed to learn how to do such things, that we also learn to use them wisely!
