Book Review
By: John Wendt WA6BFH

Title:VHF HandbookAuthor: Herbert S. Brier, W9EGQ & William I. Orr, W6SAI
Publisher:Radio Publications Inc.
International Standard Book Number: (ISBN)
Library of Congress Card Number:

For the new Radio Amateur (Ham),or even the longer licensed and seasoned veteran, the following book is a must for that Ham who has specific interest in the Very High Frequency (VHF) radio spectrum.

The book is VHF Handbook by Herbert Brier and William Orr. This book is a compilation of specific physical and technical applications as relate to the frequencies above 50 MegaHertz (MHz.) The book covers not only technology as relates to "state of the art" and near state of the art, but also an excellent historical perspective of investigations on these shorter wavelength bands. The book covers construction and design articles for radio equipment, antenna design, and the nearly lost art of "cavity filter" and "strip line" filter design.

The book provides in its own right a nearly full compendium of knowledge for the VHF/UHF enthusiast. It will give you good working information with no errors in concept or practice. It is an excellent book to have on the shelf of your technical library, even next to its larger Radio Handbook companion by one of the same authors!

Unfortunately, "VHF Hanbook" appears to be out of print curently, but if you can find a copy of it, it would be a definite "must have" for your library!
