Myth: It just costs to much to neuter or spay my pets

Facts: The cost to care for just one litter is more than it would cost you to spay or neuter your
pet. Complications from pregnancy can lead to high vet bills or even death. In some places the
license fee is reduced if your pet is spayed or neutered.

Myth: My dog must have one litter before I can spay her

Facts: If you spay your pet before her first heat cycle she has less chance of developing
mammary tumors.

Fact: neutering your dog will stop his urge to roam therefor, he is more likely to
become more protective of his home.

Results of Not Spaying or Neutering
Nationally about 2,000 puppies and 3,500 kittens are born every hour. That is about
132,000 per day, compared to a human birthrate of 10,000 per day in the United
States.
Each year, between 8 and 17 million animals turned into shelters are killed, primarily
for the lack of good homes
                                Based on my research

- In 6 years, 1 female dog and its offspring can be the source of 67,000 puppies.
- In 7 years, 1 female cat and its young can produce 420,000 cats.
- 70,000 puppies and kittens are born every day in the USA alone. Compared to only
10,000 human births, its clear that there will never be enough homes for all these pets.
- almost 8 million pets are euthanized each year because there are no homes for them. 1
