A Short Ivy League

Short Ivy League Cut - front viewThis page shows a short ivy league cut.  The reader who contributed this photo, also provided a detailed description of the cut, which is included below.  Hopefully this will help other readers who want this style to be able to describe the length that they want.

Look at the photo below for a good example of tapering on the nape of the neck.  Tapering like that is a trademark of good barbering.

Thanks to Paul Joseph for sending these photos and the details below.

Short Ivy League Cut - side view "The barber started at the right sideburn with a # 2 blade and buzzed up the side as he turned the chair in slight increments with each swipe of the clippers, shearing off the hair at the nape to the crown and continuing until he got to the top of the left side.  He used a #2 over the crown which got slightly longer as he blended with approximately 1&1/2 " in the front.  I was impressed with his technique.  He changed blades and cut with a #1 around the ears and to the occipital  in the back.  He then tapered the nape with a #000 blade.  He finished the haircut with a razor and warm shaving cream at the nape and around the ears, creating a slight white wall effect.  To sum it up... the haircut goes from a #000 at the nape to a #2 over the crown, increasing in length to 1&1/2 " at the front."
