Creating a Flattop

From the soon to be released PERFECT BUZZCUTS video from Scerbo Video Productions. Check the website for details! These step by step photos are examples of type of instructions that can be found on the PERFECT BUZZCUTS video.

Here we are doing are regular 000 fade with no clipper attachment. At this point, the haircut is a college cut with very long bangs.

Cutting the back and sides.

After the sides have been cut, the top is fluffed up using a sprayer bottle with water. A little gel is added to give the hair a little support for the cutting process on top.

Preparing the top for cutting the flattop.

The top is cut with the bare clipper blade held against a FLATTOP COMB (wide type) as the comb is held parallel to the top of the head. This is a high flattop without a landing strip.

Cutting the top of the flattop.

The fade on the sides is now taken higher to follow the pattern of the hair which is standing up. The bare blade is rocked to get the faded effect.

Touching up the sides.

The top is once again gelled and dried with the comb and dryer to show if any strays are left to be cut off the flattened top area.

Touching up the top.

Our finished product will stay up with a minimum of care. Training it back will insure that the cut stands up all day long.

The finished product.
