An Introduction
|
These past few years , I have lived an ordinary life in a small town called , about 42 kilometers north of Cebu City, in the central islands of the Philippine archipelago. Most of my time has been spent exploring and trying to discover the beauty of its natural wilderness. I love nature so much and one way of showing my great appreciation to these things is by initiating closer encounters with them with our group growing in number day by day as we encourage people to seek for trails of hidden wonders and move forward by documenting every single path that each one makes. These people are my friends who also share the same interest as I do. These are the people who believe that the fate of our environment lies in our hands and the choice is for us to make...after all, we only have this one fragile earth to take care of.
This homepage will serve as an outlet to all these endeavors. Although indirectly we try to promote this place, our real intention is to document the gradual evolution of a once heavily forested and agriculturally rich town to a highly urbanized and industrialized locality. This thing is inevitable for a place like Carmen, rich in natural and mineral resources and currently contains one of the largest forest reserves in the island. In behalf of my fellow green trail enthusiasts, I would like to share this notion that in order for us to maintain the delicate balance in nature, we must be able to develop a culture among ourselves that should seek to understand the complexities involved in the very nature of our existence in times of competition and survival, in times of greed and hunger, and in times of human indifference and neglect, a culture that should seek to initiate re-orientations of paradigms and social outlook for a common goal of preserving all life-forms, and a culture that should seek to implement peace and harmony between man and his environment and learn to live with it. Otherwise, the emergence of industrialization will subsequently and undoubtedly violate the sacred laws of nature. If industrialization forces through rapidly beyond the rate that nature can handle, then this very little fragile earth drifting in the vast span of the universe soon will evolve into a vast ball of dust -- . In behalf of all the residents of Carmen, I would like to present this unique masterpiece to everyone who believes that the law of nature is supreme and that human technology is only derived from it. The show must go on and we should strive to carry on. Onward we go, documenting bit by bit and step by step what evolution undertakes. Hail! Hail! Hail! Long Live!
