Chapter Nine

Coincidences and the blue eyed boy

‘Oh! Sure.’ I headed out the front door.
When I look back now, I can’t believe how stupid I was! I mean get this,
No. 1- Ok, a Diana in Tulsa who teaches singing. Now, could be just a coincidence, I mean there are probably a million Diana’s in Tulsa.
No. 2- She has a son who sings. Again could be just a coincidence.
No. 3- Long, long, long hair. But I guess a million people have long hair.
and No. 4- A son who sings and plays the keyboard. Now we are getting to the stage where it would have to be a HUGE coincidence! But no, I still didn’t think.
I am soooo dumb!
Anyway, I walked out the door and over to the drive but couldn’t see anyone.
‘Uh, hello?’
‘Hi!’ a voice called back and the back of a blonde head pops up from the side of the van. (No. 5- Blonde hair?!)
‘Need any help in there?’
‘Uh, actually yeah! Thanks.’
I got closer to the car and pulled open the door.
It was then that I received the greatest shock of my life.
His head was down when I pulled the door open but shot up straight away.
I swear I died right there.
I was half in the car and staring into the bluest eyes I had ever seen.
Those blue eyes belonged to the hottest guy I had ever laid eyes on.
And that guy was Taylor Hanson.
My jaw hit the ground and my powers of speech went out the window.
I must have half sat-half stood there, paralyzed for a full minute before Taylor broke the silence.
‘Wooah, uh, hi! You must be Peta. I’m Taylor, but I guess you know that hey?’ he grinned.
‘I s’pose you’re a bit shocked right now. But we kinda wanted you not to know who my mom was in case you freaked out and didn’t want to sing or something.’
I nodded my head numbly.
‘Uh huh.’
I shook my head to clear it a little.
‘Wow! I am sooo stupid! I am like the biggest fan on the planet but I didn’t even think! I am sooo dumb!’
He laughed.
I nearly fell over.
‘Well, I guess you weren’t really expecting it. Oh, I heard you on the tape and you are amazing! Really!’
I mumbled a thank-you, still shell-shocked.
He was even hotter than I imagined in real life and I was about to faint.
Taylor Hanson was in my driveway!
I tried to discreetly pinch myself, as I was certain I was dreaming.
Snap out of it! I scolded myself. The last thing he wants is a fan who is too shy to even talk to him.
‘Look.’ I said.
