When we got to the Pit, it was packed, with a lot of people there because of us but a lot who were just there.
Luckily, we managed to grab a table.
'You's want anything to eat?' Ike asked.
Most people said no but Tay wanted some fries and I wanted a Coke.
'Be right back!' he told us.
'Oh, hang on Ike. I'll come with you.'
I stood and followed him to the counter.
'I can't believe we're going to be on TV!' I told him, grabbing his arm.
'It's pretty cool alright.' He told me laughing.
I continued to blab on as he ordered.
We got out food and on the way back to the table, a guy stood out in front of us, blocking our way.
He was about eighteen and very big.
'Hey! Hanson!' he called.
Ike looked up.
'Yeah?'
'You one of those pansy ass singers aren't ya?' the guy guffawed.
Ike didn't respond.
'I said…'
'I heard what you said.'
The guy goggled.
'Oh, wise guy huh? Well, guess what? I don't like you and your bro's. I don't like pansies.'
Ike shrugged.
That got the guy mad.
'Ike…' I started.
'Yeah, go'on, listen to ya girlfriend. Don't try anything mate.'
Ike continued to ignore him.
'Don't you act all high an' mighty on me Hanson! You're no better'n me and don't you ever forget it! Just 'cause you're all rich and shit don't mean you any better'n anyone else and I don't like the way you prance 'round like ya are.' He looked at Ike with such rage I felt like crying.
Luckily I was more afraid than Ike was.
'Are you finished?' he asked the guy.
The guy's face flushed and I could see his hands ball into fists.
He looked like he was about to explode.
'You….f#@ing…..bastard! You…..'
'Oh shut the hell up. No one gives a shit what you think and it's certainly not going to ruin my day.' Ike tried to push past him but the guy stuck out his hand.
'Where do you think you're going?'
'I don't want my fries to get cold, now that would ruin my day. You can't have cold fries.'
The guy looked like he had just swallowed a gold fish, his mouth kept opening and closing as if gasping for air.
Ike managed to push past him and luckily the guy was too surprised to do anything about it.
We got back to our able among shocked looks from everyone who had witnessed the event.
The guy stormed past us and out the door, slamming it behind him.
Tay came up to me.
'Are you ok?'
'Yeah. I'm fine. But it's just as well that guy didn't want to fight, things might have been a lot worse.'
'What? Are you doubting my fighting ability?' Ike asked, half-serious.
'Never!' I laughed.
Soon enough, the guys from KL5 arrived and it was down to business.
They asked us all questions and told us a lot of stuff about what we were to expect.
They had arranged a meeting with the headmaster and Mrs Green to set everything up properly, but we were probably to start shooting the first show (again but professionally) next Thursday.
When all was over, Ike offered me a ride home, but Tay and I decided to walk.
I couldn't stop talking the whole way.
'This is so amazing! This goes to the whole state! The whole state of Oklahoma gets to see me on TV!'
'And they're sooo looking forward to it too!' Tay responded sarcastically, taking my hand.
'Hey! And I bet everyone was just breathless in anticipation when you first came out.'
'Yeah! With a face like this, who wouldn't want to see me?'
'You're pathetically vain.' I grimaced at him.
He grinned.
'Hey, wanna go for a blade when we get back?'
'Sure. We should go down the lake way, it's so pretty this time of year.'
'How romantic!' he gushed.
I rolled my eyes.
'Come on then Mr Romantic, race ya home!'
I broke into a run.
'Hey!' he pelted after me.
Upon arriving back at the Hanson house, Tay grabbed his blades and we left for my house.
After grabbing my blades, we took off in the direction of the Arkansas River.
It was about four o'clock so we didn't have a lot of time before dark.
We skated up to the top of Mt Henna and fooled around in the park up there before I became tired and flopped down to take in the view.
'You know, one thing I'll give Tulsa is the view. There was nowhere in LA you could get a view like this, trees and rivers and stuff. It's beautiful.'
Tay sat down beside me.
'Yeah. It is pretty cool isn't it? It's almost as good here as it is from the other spot, you know our one?'
'Yeah. But this one looks away from the city, so it's different.'
'Yeah, I guess. Hey, what about the Valley? Didn't you say that had the best scenery?'
'Oh, yeah! It was pretty cool. You could see everything, LA, Hollywood, the beach, trees and so on. I still miss LA, a lot. But this is better.'
'How come?'
'Well, if I hadn't moved, I would never have met you and I would still be pining over posters and songs wouldn't I?' I smiled.
