‘Hi! You’re new aren’t you? I’m Sarah Sully. What’s your name?’
A little surprised, but managing to keep calm, I answered,
‘I’m Peta.’
‘Cool name. So, is this your first day? What do you think of it so far?’
‘It’s pretty cool. I haven’t seen the whole campus yet though.’
‘Oh right. So, you just move to Tulsa?’
‘Yeah, I moved here about a week ago. From Anaheim. It’s a major change believe me!’
‘LA? Really? That is so cool! What was it like to live there?’
We started a long conversation. She was really nice.
As we were leaving, she said,
‘I’ll have to introduce you to everyone. I know how it feels to be new. I was a new freshman to Tulsa and that was worse! No one likes freshmen, let alone new ones! Actually, I have been hearing about you already today, oh, not bad things!’ she reassured me.
‘Yeah, I was talking to a friend of mine, Troy, and he told me he’d seen this hot new girl today. Apparently she turned a few heads!’ she laughed as I felt color rising in my cheeks.
‘So, I asked him to describe her and you happened to walk past. Well, ya should have seen all the guys heads, well, most of ‘em anyway! Swear they nearly got whiplash!’ I had a feeling she was exaggerating just a little bit.
‘I found out from someone you had Drama and stuff. And this! So, how’d ya like to be my pal? I’m really nice!’ she grinned.
Feeling confident, I nodded.
‘Sure. Thanks. I am feeling kinda out of it. I’d never moved before.’
She smiled and patted my arm.
‘My friends are great, you’ll fit in just fine. You can sit with us at lunch if you like. I’ll meet you outside the cafeteria k?’
I agreed, then suddenly remembered the thing in the auditorium.
‘Oh, Sarah, I’m actually going to the singing thing in the auditorium today at lunch.’
‘Oh really? Can you sing? That is so cool! I’d love to be able to sing! Oh, Kate’s going to that! I’ll tell her you’re going to be there, k?’
‘Ok, thanks.’ And I was off to Drama.
Now, Drama was very interesting.
There was only about ten people in the class and this one guy who was the biggest babe I have ever seen.
His name was Matthew and he had longish wavy brown hair and deep chocolate eyes.
He was sooo hot.
The class had already started working on a film that they were writing.
They were hoping to turn it into a drama series to put on a local TV station.
‘Yeah, KL5 said they would look into it, if it was good enough!’ a guy called Brent was telling me.
‘Wouldn’t that be so cool? Being on TV?’
I had to agree with him there.
‘Um, have you written much on it?’ I asked him.
‘Oh, a fair bit. We’ve already recorded the first episode and are preparing to tape the second one. And we’ve written the third.’
‘Oh. Do you want me to be behind the scenes, on the camera or something?’ I asked.
