'But I'm not a pushover Tay! I will get you back you know!'
'Yeah, Zac I know, now get mom.'
Tay and I finished recording 'Surely as the sun' late that night.
'Wow! That sounds great you guys!' Ike came into the room.
'Looks like I'm out of a job!'
The Saturday night of Zac's party, I arrived to about eleven twelve-year-old Zac friends, and a few people around my age that I knew from Hanson's going away party.
As soon as I arrived, Zac pulled me into the kitchen away from the crowd.
'Peta! I'm so glad you are here! You're a girl right?'
'Oh really, ya think? 'Cause I was always unsure!' I shrugged.
'Yeah, yeah, whatever! Look I need some advice.'
'Shoot.'
'Well, see um…' I could see he was a little uncomfortable.
'What is it Zac?'
'Ok, I'll just come right out with it. Ok, there's this girl, Tahlia I like and….'
'What? You wanna ask her out?'
'No! I mean, yeah, but I know you're gonna say just do it, see, I can't. I have to do it kinda subtle like.'
'Zac? You? Subtle? Are you ill?' I felt his forehead.
'No! I'm just a little, well new to this stuff.'
'Why are you asking me? So am I.'
'But can't you help me? You're a girl.'
'Yes, so you've already profoundly stated. Ok, hmmm, what do I suggest?' I thought for a moment.
'Why don't you ask her to dance or something?'
'Nah……'
Suddenly Ike came into the room.
'Zac, Tahlia wants to play 'Truth and Dare.' You'd better get out there.'
Forgetting our conversation completely, Zac flew into the den.
I shook my head.
'What?' Ike asked.
'Zac. Girl problems.'
'Well, Tahlia is paying quite a bit of attention to him at the moment, he should be happy.'
I looked into the den and saw Zac and Tahlia on the sofa getting pretty cozy.
'Oh, I see.'
'You wanna come up to my room? Us mature people are hanging out up there.'
'Yep. I was on my way up when Zac kidnapped me.'
While Zac and his friends spent the night downstairs, Tay, Ike and I and our friends stayed more or less in Ike's room.
It was a pretty good night in all, Sarah and I caught a number of 'couples' in the downstairs bathroom getting cozy.
Apparently they were playing '7 minutes of pleasure' or something.
Quite amusing.
Of course us mature people did not engage in such childish behavior.
Ok, so I tell a lie, but it was fun!
