Hanson returned two months later and the second night they were back, I spent the night at their house, my feelings for Tay cemented.
We sat with our backs to the window and watched the lightning crashing across the sky.
'I love thunder storms!' I sighed.
'Me too. They're really great to watch. Very beautiful.'
'I dunno, they always made me fell kinda wistful, you know? Dreamy.'
'Yeah….dreamy.'
We sat there for a minute silently and I managed to sneak a look over at Tay.
Four months I had known him.
Four glorious months and still I could not believe he was sitting here with me.
Taylor Hanson.
Sitting there in the light of the lightning, he looked so perfect I almost felt like crying.
I also felt like reaching out and stroking his face and almost did, but stopped.
I didn't want to ruin what we had.
Anyway, I had had no indication he felt anything for me.
He had this kind of dreamy look on his face, as if he was a million miles away, on a rainbow somewhere.
My cousin once wrote to me about a 'rainbow of dreams' we had in our hearts we had to climb and right then I imagined Taylor had found his and was climbing it.
He looked so perfect.
A brilliant streak lit up the sky like day and I managed to tear my eyes away from Tay.
'Wow!' I breathed.
'Yeah! Wow!' Tay whispered.
'That was beautiful.'
Suddenly Tay turned to me.
'Like you.' he whispered.
Gently he took my face in his hands and kissed me.
I could barely catch my breath when we broke apart.
'I have been wanting to do that for a long time.' He whispered.
'Wow Tay, I….I don't…' I was shocked.
I turned away.
'Don't you? I mean, I thought……I thought you. Oh shit!' he buried his face in his hands.
'Tay! What are you doing?'
'I am so stupid! I totally didn't mean to come on to you like that, I mean, I just thought you felt the same way and now I've gone and stuffed it up! I am such an idiot!'
'Tay! What are you talking about?'
I softened my voice.
'I, of course I, I mean I wanted to do the same thing.' I admitted.
He looked up.
'You were?'
I nodded.
He smiled.
'That's good.'
'Yeah.' I couldn't help but smile too.
