Chapter Twenty

Tay's secret oasis and longing

cool view hey?’
‘It’s great! But why did you bring me here if you’re the only one who knows about it?’
He shrugged.
‘I just thought you’d like it.’
‘Well, you’re right. Hey, you know,’ I sat down on the hill.
‘Hey you know what?’ Tay asked, sitting down beside me.
‘Moving to Tulsa was the last thing I wanted to do. Even as a huge Hanson fan. I didn’t want to leave all my friends and stuff. But it wasn’t as bad as I thought!’ I looked over and grinned at Tay.
‘Are you suggesting that I made the move worthwhile?’ he asked slyly, obviously flirting with me.
‘No! I just meant that you and everyone else here have made me fit in and feel comfortable…’ I realized I had put my foot in mouth and couldn’t go on.
Tay sat next to me and mimicked me.
‘Yeah yeah! Whatever! You are just in love with me! Admit it! You think that moving here was the best thing because you met me! Just admit it!’ he scrambled closer to me and wrapped an arm around my neck.
‘Don’t flatter yourself!’ I messed up his hair.
That started a wrestle and soon we were chasing each other around the clearing.
‘Quite the modest one aren’t we?’ I teased, pushing him to the ground.
‘You….are……going….to….pay!’ he cried, pulling me down too.

‘Come on! There is plenty more to see in good ol’ Tulsa!’ he pulled me up with him.
With one last look at the view and a feeling of longing about what might have been in my heart, I followed him out of the clearing and back towards town.
Over the next month, Tay, Ike, Zac and I (and my brother much to his amazement) became good close friends.
Our families became close and I continued to take lessons with Diana and the guys.
Tay and I continued to perfect ‘Surely as the sun’ and by the time came for them to go on tour it was nearly ready to record.
It wasn’t going to be anything but a copy for us but I was pretty damn thrilled to be recording a song with Taylor Hanson!
Tay quickly became my best friend and even though I wanted more and every time I was with him I felt a sense of longing, it was great.
People often mistook us for a couple as we were rarely seen without each other.
So all in all, moving to Tulsa turned out to be great.
‘Secrets and Lies’ moved along perfectly and I was a major hit at school, performing as the lead singer in the band, ‘Innocent Victims’ and securing a very safe place as one of Sarah’s elite friends.
Hell, I even had guys chasing after me! I even dated Matthew for awhile but it was obvious he was still hung up on Keelie and I was in love with Tay.
But Hanson were Hanson, and Hanson had to tour.
The second to last night they were home, I threw a going away party for them at my house.
All the juniors and most of the seniors from school came and so did all of Hanson’s
