We sang the whole song and I was breathless at the end.
Mom and Diana must have come in to hear because they clapped at the end.
‘Wow that was great you two! You really click together!’ Diana praised.
Mom started on the ‘Oh my god, you sang with Taylor Hanson, will you ever recover?’ crap.
I was blushing non-stop.
I could not believe I had just sung with Taylor Hanson!
Taylor looked at me.
‘Wow! That was amazing! Wait till Ike and Zac hear you! You never know! I may have to dump them for you!’ he joked smiling shyly.
I shook my head firmly.
‘Sing something else!’ mom ordered.
‘Peta?’ Taylor asked.
‘Ok, why not? I’m confident now!’
‘What song? You pick.’
‘I dunno. Oh, I do! ‘Surely as the sun!’ I love that song!’
‘Ike sings that!’
‘So? I always thought you’d sing it just as good.’
‘Oh, alright!’
‘I have it all worked out. I used to sing along to my CD. You sing and I’ll just sing some bits, like a backer. K?’
‘Whatever! You’re the boss!’ he grinned.
He began to practice for a minute.
‘Ok, ready.’
And he started.
‘As surely as the sun rises each day, so my love, will never change….’
And so on.
He sang and I backed him up.
It sounded pretty good.
Diana and mom were really impressed.
‘You should make a copy of that for Peta one day Tay.’ Diana suggested.
‘Hey! What about me?’ he asked.
‘I want one too! We’ll definitely have to record it! It sounded great!’
Record a song with Taylor Hanson? No way! This was not happening!
‘Uh, sure. Whatever!’ I stumbled.
‘Cool! You’ll have to come over one day. The equipment we need I can’t really bring over here.’ Taylor smiled.
‘Ok, cool!’
Mom called from the kitchen.
Dinner was ready.
‘Oh, dinner’s ready. Come into the kitchen.’ I told Taylor.
As we walked into the dining area, Taylor remarked,
‘Wow! This is a great house! Are the bedrooms upstairs?’
