Chapter Eleven

Mom! Someone I'd like you to meet!

‘Yeah. Sarah’s pretty cool. Most of our guy friends are home schooled, but you’ll probably see them around.’
We had reached the front door by now.
It was open.
I walked in and called out to mom.
‘Mom! I’d like you to meet someone! I found him outside. His name’s Taylor Hanson, I think you might have seen him before!’
Taylor laughed.
‘Do you think she’ll know who I am?’
‘Personally I think she’s a little tired of seeing your face a million times when she walks into my room or hearing your voice 24/7! Nothing personal of course!’ I laughed.
‘Ohhhhh!’ he grinned.
Mom and Diana were in the lounge room below the stairs.
‘Yes, I was wondering when you’d find out! I’m surprised I didn’t have to call an ambulance!’ Mom laughed.
‘I was positive you’d have to be admitted into the shock ward!’
Diana spoke.
‘Yes! Your mom has been telling me what a huge fan you are. I guess you are a little surprised?’
‘You could say that!’ I was still a little shocked.
I lead Tay into the lounge to put his keyboard down.
‘Have a seat Taylor. Jeez! I never thought I’d be saying that! Anyway, would you like a drink?’ mom asked.
I was a little embarrassed, I mean here I was trying my hardest to keep cool and she was acting like she was the sixteen-year old one.
I caught her eye and gave her a look.
‘Oh, thanks. That would be great.’ Taylor smiled.
I swear I nearly fell over every time he smiled.
‘What would you like?’
‘Oh, anything you have.’
‘Coke?’
‘That’s fine thanks.’
‘Diana?’
‘No, I’m right thank you.’
And she left, without asking me.
‘Ah, mom? I’d like a coke please!’ I called to her.
‘Oh.’
I turned to Diana.
‘Thank you so much for coming out here! I am so, wow! I don’t know what to say! I mean, Hanson and all and you want to listen to me!’ I couldn’t comprehend what was going on.
She smiled.
‘It’s ok. I know this could be kind of weird for you. But I didn’t tell you earlier for that reason! I heard through Lynn, Mrs Smith, and then through your old teacher that you were a big fan and I didn’t want you to feel intimidated or anything. I wasn’t really keen on bring Tay over here either, but he begged me to come.’ She cocked her head towards her son who was blushing a little.
