Bring on the night.......
When Ike and Destiny returned later that night, Tay was already in bed asleep.
Tay stared at his closed door.
Ike couldn’t sleep.
Destiny spent the night at the hotel with the Hanson family, which Ike was more than surprised at, his dad never let anyone except a few choice, very close friends stay in the same city as the group, let alone the same hotel.
Tay rolled over onto his side and shielded his eyes in an attempt to go back to sleep.
‘Is Tay still up? I wanna go see him. I saw him in the hall before but before I realized it was him Sarah dragged me away.’ Destiny whispered as they passed Tay’s door.
‘I dunno, you can check if you like. It’s that one.’
Quietly as possible, Destiny eased open Tay’s door, the light was out so she took a quick look at her childhood friend before closing the door and leaving him to his sleep.
‘No, he’s asleep.’ She whispered to Ike as she followed him down to his room.
‘I’ll surprise him tomorrow.’
Had he been dreaming?
He must have been.
There was no way that his door had just opened and the hall light outside had illuminated his angel looking in on him.
There was no way. Was there?
He kept thinking about how when Tay had moaned and missed Destiny, he had kept his own feelings deeply hidden and only missed her as much as Tay on the inside.
No one had known that Ike had secretly longed after her for forever.
And now she was back.
And Ike knew he had to do something before he lost her again.
He could not lose her again.
But this time Walker even splashed out and paid for her room.
The next morning, Destiny crept out of her room at seven and knocked quietly on Ike’s door to see if he was up.
‘Come in!’ Ike called from within.
‘Are you decent?’ Destiny inquired.
‘Dest! Come in! Sleep well?’ Ike opened the door and ushered her in.
A failed attempt.
Every time he closed his eyes, he pictured her.
At his door.
It was her, he was almost certain.
Almost.
But ninety nine percent of him was saying his mind was just playing tricks on him.
I mean, why the heck would she be here?
It was unfathomable.
And he was kicking himself.
I have never even spoken to her, get over her already!
But it was impossible.
