For the last half an hour Tay had not been able to stop crying.
Diana’s heart lurched.
By God’s hands he was drawn to the window.
A crash broke the silence.
Zac slammed his fist through the mirror on his wall.
Something made Peta fall.
The same thing that twisted the knife in Ike’s heart.
After five days of not being able to start.
But there was something in the air.
Something nagging.
Something wistful.
Then he heard it.
The sound he had thought he’d never hear again.
Her.
And suddenly he saw his Destiny.
It sat in her throat.
She knew.
By the Almighty God in heaven, she knew.
To see the light.
He had to see the light.
For something told him it would be for the last time.
All around him the shadows were deepening.
All around him the dark was winning.
But just one last time he had to feel the light on him.
Bathe in it’s beauty.
Before darkness reigned once and for all.
The deafening silence that had enveloped the souls of the Hanson family, Destiny, Peta, even Dr. Hasten.
A loud, world-shattering crash.
A crash that did indeed shatter the world of the Hanson family.
Then silence once again.
Glass shattered like the pieces of his heart.
‘No! No it can’t be this way! Not it can’t! You can’t leave us Tay! You can’t!’
The pain he felt in his hand was dull.
The pain he felt in his heart seared like the eternal fires of hell.
An unseen force pulled her to the floor and kept her there, weeping loudly.
Crying over and over again,
‘No! No! Please no!’
Something that sapped the life out of him.
Ike felt half of him die inside.
