Summary: A Vincent and Cloud short candy fic

He walked through the dead grasses, his eyes cast downward on the cold hard ground. Sprinkled in among the dried grasses were puffs of white snow, it was starting to collect here. It was getting steadily colder too, even now the haunting breath of winter was snapping at his bare arms. Any day ago he might have been of absorb in the pressing thought. Strangely enough the feeling didn’t click today. His mind kept spinning back to that moment in the Ancient City, back to that awful memory. Aeris, kneeing before him hands pressed together. Her green eyes shifted up to look at him, a small smile coming to her sharp face. Then time just stopped. He remembered watching like a demon Sephiroth falling from nowhere to step forward and ram his large sword down into Aeris’s back.

Why hadn’t there been any blood?

He thought there should be blood, he had stared at the gapping hole expectantly, but it never came. That in itself made him crazy with confusion. When you stab someone they bleed! Why didn’t Aeris bleed? And why did such mad thoughts like that come to him? He silently scolded himself for thinking morbid thoughts. He should be happy she was with the planet again, with Gaea. But he couldn’t look over the fact there had been no blood. The thought twisted in the pit of him stomach making him sick. He had let her fall into the pool, but once her cool body had lift his fingers something in him didn’t seem right anymore. He thought it might be love for the flower girl, but it was something else.

Something darker... Relief.

Why should he feel relief over her lost? Because, the dark thought continued, you won’t have to worry about her anymore. That horrible! Cloud’s eyes slammed shut, he grits his teeth to the point they protested in pain. His hands becoming fists at his side, he was a monster to think such a horrible thing! He slowly risked opening his glowing eyes, and looked around his party. He had to think about something else, something not Aeris.

His eyesight landed on the back of the silent Vincent. Cloud’s eyes travel over the taller man, he walked perfectly. No slouch in his sure step and the way his arms were held neatly away from his body. With every step the dark man took his silky mass of dark hair moved softly. Cloud watched as Vincent seem to feel Cloud’s eyes on him, so he slowly glanced over in his direction. In that instant their eyes locked. Cloud felt his cheeks warm slightly under the knowing gaze. Cloud swallowed hard and looked away. Unknown to him Vincent watched him a moment longer before turning to look ahead again. Cloud shook his head slowly, what the hell was that? Why did he blush, it was only Vincent! Damn it, what in the hell was going on? Cloud leveled his shoulders and shook the dark thought away.

He instead let his eyes shifted up to Cait Sith, who seemed to be content enough to shut up and walk. Thank god they didn’t bring Yuffie, he didn’t need another annoyance. She hadn’t really changed after Aeris’s death either, she just seem to get more stupid. Why couldn’t she learn to be silence like Vince over there? Some guys found it attractive for women to shut up once in a while... or men. Knock that off, now! He scolded himself, you don’t like guys you like girls, girls, and girls... Remember?

Maybe his grief was making him crazy. Yeah, that had to be it.

Then how come?

Cloud shook his head while trying to block the train of thought. Cloud cleared his throat maybe if he started a conversation he would forget this horrible train of thought. “We should reach the mountains by nightfall.” There, he praised himself, nice and easy conversation. Cait Sith nodded and almost fell off his hug mog when he turned around. “Sure thing, providing no monsters! Maybe we’ll get lucky!” Cloud let his attention be drawn to the ridicule group member. “How goes things at the Shinra? Is everyone behaving?”

“It’s okay-dokie right now! Although, I think Rufus and dimwits might be planning something soon. I’m looking into it, I’ll tell you when I get more information.” Cloud nodded, then felt something-sharp shoot through his spine. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He slowly blinked and turned to look towards the source. Vincent was watching him...why was he watching him? A chill went through his system as he looked back at Vincent. The way his scarlet eyes narrowed on his own, it made him feel suddenly frozen like a deer in headlights. Why was the look Vincent was giving Cloud having such a strong effect on him? Cloud wanted to disappear suddenly, hid someplace warm and safe.

Strangely enough, Vincent spoke up, “we should seek shelter from the cold, it’s going to be dark soon.” His voice was almost perfect, Cloud noted. No indication on how he felt, just hard facts. Cait Sith’s black head bobbed in agreement, “that’s a good idea! But uh, we’re not going to find anywhere around here.” Cloud cleared his thoughts, putting on a mask. “Maybe we can find a cave in the mountains. Come on.”

About two and a half-hours later they had made it to the foot of the large mountains. Vincent came to a stop and peered up the rough surface, letting his eyes drift up to the gray clouds floating lazily around the mountain. He turned and watched as Cloud moved up along side the rock formation. “--I don’t know, I think we’re going to have to climb it.”

“Oh that’s horrible!” Cait Sith cried, “how am I suppose to get up there when my small little arms?” Cloud turned and looked the robotic creature over, “...” The look he had, made Vincent smirk in amusement. Cloud could look so damn sweet when he was irritated. The way his eyes narrowed and his jaw tighten, he looked like he wanted to say something but choose against it. “Fine, we’ll look around maybe we’ll find a path or something.” Cloud said before heading off towards the middle of the mountain, with his teammates following him. Vincent shook his head and let his eyes shifted back ahead to their present destination.

He shouldn’t be thinking about Cloud like that. He didn’t strike Vincent as the type of man who was interested in that kind of thing. So Vincent would sit back here and ride it out, besides Cloud appeared to have feelings for Aeris. Ever since they left the dead city he had hardened up. Cloud lost his dorkie flare and that kinda got Vincent down. That’s what made Cloud so damn endearing, that and his nice little ass.

As the walked for some reason a chill went through Vincent. Something wasn’t right, he thought. His eyes snapped to the rocky surroundings, monsters perhaps. He hit a full stop and pause to listen, ignoring the pounding in his own chest. He forced his face to remain as emotionless as ever even though fear was bottling up in his throat. Ahead of him, Cloud paused and glanced back at him, “what is it?”

“Not sure,” Vincent answered truthfully. Around them a chilled wind rose up and then fell again, as if a warning. It might of came too late however, from above a howl of a creature was heard. The group spun around to see a large ape like monster, perched on some large rocks. It’s dark eyes narrowed on them, it bear its teeth and growled at them. It then leaped into the air and intending on pouncing the group but they spilt up to avoid the attack. The ape monster stood there momentarily lost, before it went to charge the nearest victim. Vincent spun around only to see the ape come barreling for him, as the former Turk reached over to grab his gun he knew... He was going to be too slow... He wasn’t going to get there in time.

But strange enough Vincent watched as something resembling metal blade was neatly sliced into the ape’s dirty white fur. He continued to watch as blood soaked the beast’s coat and the blade of the large sword. The ape then crumble in on itself, with a dead thud the beast didn’t get back up. Standing over the creature was Cloud, Vincent’s eyes traveled to the young man’s shoulders, bouncing with every deep breath. His glowing eyes slowly shifted upwards to look at Vincent, such a pure looking soul...

Vincent was distracted when Cait Sith cried out. Both men spun around to see more ape monsters dropping down and attacking the robot. They grabbed at Cait Sith and pulled him from his mog. While the lost mog followed stupidly, but the ape pulled at it’s wings. Pulling until they were ripped from its large body. While Cait Sith was almost crying as he was tossed about like a ball, trying to somehow muster up a spell but it wasn’t going his way. Instead as the mog was torn apart, Cait Sith was thrown hard up into the air! Cloud and Vincent tried to get over and help the robot spy but it wasn’t going to soon enough.

In mid flight Cait Sith body hung up on a branch, so when a ape pull on Cait Sith’s tail it ripped the robot in half! By then Cloud and Vincent cleared out the apes. Once the threat was gone, Cloud sighed darkly. “Look at this, now what are we going to do? Cait Sith had most of the materia!” Cloud complained as he picked up Cait Sith’s head, the robot sputtered as it was now dying in his very hands. “I’ll send... a replacement.. robot... to... you...” The robot said steadily slower until it died. Cloud sighed and glanced back towards Vincent. The dark man shrugged, “looks like it’s just you and me now.”

At that sentence, Cloud tensed. He nodded and set about collected the materia orbs. “Right, we should get moving there might be more of them.” Vincent nodded and helped Cloud collected the small pile of orbs and after burning Cait Sith remains, mainly cause they thought they shouldn’t leave the robot laying around. They then set off towards climbing up the rocky slope of the mountain. Now with Cait Sith gone they could go the quickest routine, although it seemed a little strange thinking like that. But Cait Sith was a robot and could be rebuilt, so you couldn’t too emotional over it.

Later the weather had gotten steady worse as night approach. So the guys took refuge in a small cave, what good that did them. The wind raked through the small hole in the mountain, but thankfully when they went deeper it seemed to calm down enough to be tolerable. However, there wasn’t anything to make a fire so that meant they were going to have to one: go look for some firewood, or two: rough it out. And the idea of searching for firewood on a mountain with night having a heavy hold was not a good idea. So they sat curled up trying to block out the cold.

Cloud felt his teeth threatening to send him into another chatting fit, but he quickly lifted his gloved hands and raked them over his bare arms. Damn this Solider uniform sucked, it was miserable in warm weather and not enough in cold climates. Cloud sighed heavily, watching the dark walls of the cave. Trying to think in vain of a conversation topic, but he was too cold to think right now. Not only that, he started to worry of hypothermia. “You’re freezing,” Vincent said off hand now, Cloud glanced over at the dark haired man. He forced a smile, “I’m alright.” Vincent looked him over with his scarlet eyes.

Again Cloud felt his stomach twist in knots, Vincent glanced towards the cave entrance. As if thinking something over, he then decided to go for it, he drew his hand to his cape. “I’ll share, our combine temperature should keep us warm.” Cloud reasoned that Vincent was right and his body was jumping at the chance of getting warm. But still, that fear slither up his throat, Cloud didn’t want to be that close to Vincent...ever. The dark man watched Cloud’s hesitation so he added, “I won’t bite.”

Cloud blushed faintly before nodding and crawling to his feet, then slowly coming over and easing wearily down beside the dark haired man. No sooner was he seated then did Vincent’s cape enclose around him too, allowing Cloud’s lung to be invaded with Vincent’s strong spicy scent. Cloud shivered darkly at the idea of being this close to someone, or maybe it was from the cold. Cloud’s eyes cautiously glanced over to see the side of Vincent’s face. His pale skin darkened with the lack of light, while his lips pressed firmly together to avoid a smile? Cloud’s eyes snapped away, his heart pounding loud in his ears. His fingers tighten around his knees, as he rested his chin against them. He didn’t think he could start up a conversation. His lungs weren’t even breathing right. But one thing was for sure, he was getting warm and being warm was always great. His eyes closed as he tried to pretend he wasn’t here.

Beside him, Vincent blinked slowly before his eyes shifted to the younger man. “Something wrong?” Cloud didn’t answer at first, he swallowed hard and begun. “Just tired.” Cloud lied, Vincent thankfully took it. “Yes, it has been a long day.” Cloud sighed sadly, that it had. Vincent frowned and cleared his throat. “You know if you need someone to talk too... About Aeris I mean.”

            “No, I’m fine.”

“Right,” Vincent said and looked away. His own heart beating loudly in his ears, for some reason his lips were very dry. So he licked them nervously, why should he feel this way? He tried to think back to the last time he remotely felt his heart sputtered due to someone else, it hadn’t happen too many times that’s for sure. Vincent closed his eyes and thought back to maybe happier times, because a smile came to his face. Beside him, Cloud caught it and he nervously fidgeted under it. Vincent felt this and turned back to him expectantly. “What is it?”

“Uh? Huh?” Cloud asked confused, another blush coming to his cheeks. Vincent’s smiled widen, “you’re blushing.” Cloud made a face, “I don’t blush!” But his face got steady redder, causing Vincent to grin. Cloud nervously turned back to his knees. “I’m just tired, that’s all.” Cloud lied again and buried his face in his knees. Vincent felt his lips twist with annoyance so he leaned towards Cloud. “I know your secret you know, you can drop the act.”

“The act? M-my secret? W-what are you talking about?” Cloud’s voice sputtered on each question, causing Vincent to smile once again in amusement. “You, I’ve been catching you lately. I know what it is you’re thinking, your eyes give it away every time.” Cloud shrunk away, “I... me... I what?” Vincent leaned back and glanced towards the walls. “Don’t play dumb.”

“Look Vince, I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about? I can assure you I like girls, I’m sure sorry if I offended your or something.” Cloud watched as Vincent’s eyes snapped back to him, as if reading into his soul. Vincent nodded slowly, “you didn’t offend me, but now you are. You’re lying.”

“I’m... I’m not lying!” Cloud tried, but he felt his blood run cold under the hard gaze Vincent gave him. “Really, I’m sorry.” Vincent leaned towards him, lifting his human hand. He pressed it to Cloud’s face, “we’ll see if you’re telling the truth.” He leaned down and pulled Cloud’s face to his! Cloud’s eyes widen as he felt Vincent’s lips pressed to his. He sat there shocked stupid as he felt his lips gently mauled. Vincent seemed so cold but in reality he was really warm, not only that his lips were so smooth. Cloud felt his eyes blinked several times when Vincent pulled away enough to examine Cloud’s stun face. Vincent would note that Cloud looked impossibly cute, warm cheeks and a stun expression on his face. Cloud continued blinking like something was wrong with his eyes. He reached up and rubbed his forehead in confusion, then said stupidly, “you kissed me.”

“Yes, I believe that’s what they call it now a days.”

“...You kissed me on the lips.” He seemed so shocked that he didn’t have a handle on his words. Cloud shook his head now then turned serious, “did you mean that?” Vincent frowned, “why would I do it if I didn’t mean it?” Cloud bit his lip nervously, “I don’t understand what’s happening anymore.” Vincent clamped his hand on Cloud’s shoulder. “Don’t, don’t try and explain it. You feel it as much as I do. The pull. I know how you feel about me and you should know I feel the exact same way for you.”

Cloud wet his dry throat before making a determine face. He reached forward and grabbed both sides of Vincent’s face. Vincent’s eyes widen as Cloud yanked his face back to the blonde’s. Cloud’s smaller lips mauling his own, as if he sudden knew this was what he wanted.

Somehow Vincent ended up on top of the smaller man, straddling him. His tongue running wildly with Cloud’s. As Vincent paused in the tongue war, Cloud grunted in annoyance. He didn’t want to stop now; it was so nice to be touch like this. Why hadn’t he done it sooner? Cloud watched in a daze as Vincent resumed kissing Cloud’s face, pausing to let his tongue flick out and lick him. Cloud’s hands rose up and grabbed at Vincent’s back, yanking him harder down on him. Vincent smirked as he worked towards his freshly acquired lover’s collar. Meanwhile, his real hand reached down and made its way under Cloud’s sweater. Cloud grinned and let his fingers tangle in Vincent’s silk hair, damn he smelled so good. Vincent worked lower letting his tongue swirl around Cloud’s skin, acting as if he had all the time in the world. He didn’t, Cloud thought dark, hurry up, hurry up and get to it! Vincent grinned as he paused and looked up at the younger warrior. Cloud was panting heavily as he stared back at Vincent, who let his eyes shifted back to Cloud’s pants. His hand rose up and easily tugged Cloud’s pants away, the coldness of the air caused Cloud to cry out.

However that wasn’t too last too long, because Vincent lowered himself from Cloud’s sight. Suddenly Cloud was very warm again; he shivered and cried out a second time. His eyes widening as he lay on the cold floor in momentary shock. Whatever Vincent was doing it felt really, really good. Cloud felt his mouth drop open he wanted to say something, but his throat was too tight. He couldn’t get anything out but grunts and groans. Vincent’s wet mouth ran over the tender skin, until Cloud felt the pit of his stomach churn with a hot fire. He called out to Vincent a warning, but the dark haired man didn’t seem to take it. Before too long, Cloud felt himself reach his peak right into Vincent’s mouth. Cloud panted hard a soft sob escaping his throat, he felt horrible for doing that. But Vincent was suddenly back in his eyesight, looking him over. “Shh... Don’t, it’s all right. I like it.”

He ran his fingers along Cloud’s face, before glance back down, before letting his eyes shifted back to him. “Do you trust me, Cloud?” The blond felt his trembling subsiding, “y-yeah.” Vincent nodded firmly, then grinned. “Then I’m going to show you something.” Vincent’s hand moved back to his own pants, quickly undoing them before leaning down to get into position on Cloud. Vincent leaned heavily into the other, whose eyes were widened with fear just then. “This might hurt a little,” Vincent warned him before he plunged himself into Cloud. The other cried out, his back arching back at the strange pain that invaded his lower half... It was like nothing he ever felt before! Cloud felt tears come to his eyes as the pain intensified with each thrust. Vincent’s face tightened as he felt his own climate coming but as he reached it Cloud’s body again gave out. So they both collapsed to the floor, breathing heavy...

Cloud felt his body shiver violently as he lay sprawled out under Vincent’s warm body. His eyes lifted looking again like he was in a fog, before he smirked up at Vincent, who was recovering now. Vincent slowly smiled faintly down at him, thus Cloud reached up and ran his fingers along Vincent’s face. “Where did you learn to do that?” Vincent grinned dashingly, “lots of hard work.”

            “Show me.”

Several weeks later the group had a small reunion, during which was after Cloud came out of his Mako Poison Coma. The group was all gathered on the Highwind, the group spilt up for a moment to themselves. Cloud sighed as Tifa watched him from a distance, he was dreading his talk with her. The dark haired woman slowly came up to him. She reached over and clasped his shoulder, “are you alright, Cloud?” He turned to his friend and smiled faintly. “Fine, don’t worry yourself.” Tifa looked away a moment then swallowed hard. “If it’s about Aeris... You can talk to me, Cloud. Alright?” Cloud smiled at her, everyone was telling him that lately. But he felt fine, sure not wonderful but he would live through it. His eyes however drifted across the bridge to someone. Vincent was leaning against a wall, arms crossed. He was smirking faintly and winked at him before turning back to Barret who was having a pissing match with Cid for some reason.

Tifa caught the exchanged and turned back to Cloud, she then grinned faintly. “You two seem closer seen you came back.” Cloud turned back to her, feeling his cheeks warm. “Tell me... Have you found your happiness in him?” How could she ask such a bold question and not get all tore up? Cloud knew damn well Tifa had feelings for him, but he had overlook them most of the time on this trip. Why he wasn’t quite sure, it wasn’t right to do her that way. But he wasn’t sure how he would deal with it. So he chose the ignore method. “Happiness,” he repeated. His confusion caused Tifa to make a annoyed face, “don’t act stupid, Cloud Strife. Have you and Vincent found each other? Are you in love?”

            “What would you say, Tifa?”

“What do you mean what would I say?” She then grinned brightly, “I’d wish you the best of course, you’re my best friend Cloud. I want you to be happy cause when you are... I am too.” Cloud looked her over a long time he then smiled warmly. “You’re a amazing woman, Tifa.” The woman winked at him, “damn right. So? Have you kissed or something? Confessed love? Give me some details?” Cloud bit his lip nervously, “well there was more then kissing.” Tifa’s eyes widen she then giggled like a schoolgirl, she clasp his arm tightly. “Come on, you’re going to tell me everything! From the beginning! And no detail is too meaningless!”
