Fig 3) This bird has a bit of a different look; with fewer fresh 1W feathers in,
this is best described as a faded juvenile just beginning moult to 1W.

coverts and the interesting 3-tone pattern on the

Fig 2) In flight,note the nearly solid tail and only faint
pale window on the inner primaries. The latter mark
is useful separation from Herring at a distance.
